well they took the story line of every charactor and drive it straight head on into a mountain and then set fire to it so there is literally no path forward for it now, not unless they say TFA and TLJ never happened and redo those movies completely

Thats what kills me. Theres what like 5 people from the resistance left? All their ships are smoked. All their admirals dead. Who the hell is going to fight this war? O right im sure theyll find a long lost resistance faction just waiting for some pencil neck to spring forth and led them unto glory

Too bad we never saw how they went from being in charge (presumably they were after Return of the Jedi) to now being a minor resistance group again.

Maybe the Empire was right, as it seems whenever the Senate is in charge they mess things up (at least from what we've seen in movies).

I think a lot of you have forgotten that these movies are owned by Disney and they're made to be a vehicle for children's entertainment first and foremost.

Prequels are also a lot better than the average poster on here probably thinks.

any cliff notes?

The first 10 minutes are actually worth watching. These two are great. They basically shite on Abrams' writing abilities, but praise his "glossy, fun" style. Then, the best part is when they begin talking about the new co-writer.

The name is read and then one guy says: "His writing credits include Batman v. Superman and the Justice League."

The other guy hesitates and with a blank look, legitemtly asks "is that a joke"

"No" the response says.

Still in disbelief, the other just calmly says: "This movie is going to be awful.."

I completely lost it. Funniest line i've hear in a while,

For that you need to read some books, read some comics, and play some video games. It's not like they could make it easy; how could they milk it for all that money otherwise?

Timeline with the relevant media at the bottom of each entry.
Examples:
quote:

In the celebratory aftermath of victory on Endor, Princess Leia Organa and Alliance General Han Solo are married in a private ceremony. (NOVEL: Aftermath: Life Debt, NOVEL: Aftermath: Empire’s End)

Luke Skywalker travels to the planet Pillio in search of artifacts held in secret observatories by Palpatine. Encountering Inferno Squad agent Del Meeko, Luke recovers a compass from Palpatine’s observatory on the planet. (GAME: Battlefront II)

I think their point about how absolutely forgettable and irrelevant almost the entire cast of the new trilogy is, is one of the strongest indictments of how terrible the sequel trilogy has been.

People are more excited to see geriatric Lando than anything that the new crew is up to.

It's mind boggling they could botch such an important IP so badly.

"Star Wars is for kids" is a lie that George Lucas began repeating to deflect criticism of Jar-Jar when the episode 1 backlash was beginning.

Remember Luke finding Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen's charred bodies burning?

Totally a kids movie!!

I predict it will have an extremely soft box office by Star Wars standards.

Some people still don't grasp the extent of the rage/backlash to TLJ.

Red Letter Media are the most insightful movies review outlet I've heard in entire life.

They have a way of articulating things that near perfectly captures the truth, and in a very entertaining way.

They're remarkably fair too, they don't just shite on things for clicks.

Do the people who share this sentiment ever read it back to themselves after posting and think about how it sounds.

These kids movies are still made for kids.

What could you have possibly found redeeming about it? Let’s review the major ways in which it failed:

-The Resistance is down to about four dudes (sorry, I mean “gender-nonspecific persons”) plus Rey.

-The First Order, meanwhile, apparently has no more than about four ships plus whatever ground-based material was left over from the battle of the salt planet at the end of TLJ. They have also been reduced to a running punchline, so they possess no sense of menace or threat whatsoever.

-Rey has already demonstrated she is more powerful than the trilogy’s still-alive main bad guy, Kylo Ren, so there’s no suspense as to whether or how she will eventually defeat him.

-The trilogy’s actual main bad guy, Snoke, is dead.

-The question of Rey’s parentage has been revealed to be meaningless.

Now, you may say, “But what about the Emperor? He will be the big bad guy in this movie!” And yeah, maybe he will be, but here’s the deal: that in no way ties in to anything presented in the first two films of the “trilogy.” The story arcs that were set up by TFA are dead, either half-arse completed or just flat out short-circuited. This new movie, despite being the culminating film of the sequel trilogy, is going to basically be a stand-alone because it will have to introduce new story arcs in order to have any story to tell at all. That’s the ultimate failure of TLJ: it didn’t just tell a bad story. It crapped all over the very idea of storytelling itself.

I love the idea of the Ewoks basically turning into the Woodland Critters from South Park. That would get me in the theater.
