Mike thinks they are going to go back in time to try to undo everything that was done in TLJ

Sequels ignoring sequels is an established trend in Hollywood. The Halloween series has done this like twice now with H20 and now Halloween 2018. They should do the same. Ignore TLJ exists.

its way way way too late for that now

what they did was bad enough but when they called anyone who complained about it idiots and morons for not liking it, that cemented the split and people are now divorced from emotional attachment to the star wars fandom and caring.

whatever they do will make money as brain dead zombies will watch anything today but they are never going to see block buster ratings and people lining up in the streets to watch a star wars movie again

now with that said, im gonna go watch and see what these guys say

I was just listening to this, and I think it would be just great. Star Wars was a core pillar of my childhood, but it's such a giant cluster frick now I just want them to go crazy.

that was pretty interesting

the point where the guy suggested they would bring the emperor palpatine back as a possessive force to draw kilo wren to the death star wreckage in order to merge with him and take over his body since he was too much a cuck to be the head bad guy was interesting and could be right on with where they go

but when he suggested there was a paradox with luke not being the one to fight the emperor possessed wren because then rey is left with no purpose.

i think if they go there they have to have the spirit of luke equally possess rey so its the palpotine possessed kilo wren vs the luke possessed rey in the final battle scene. i think that would work and im surprised these guys didnt see that. but im guessing there was just so much bad that needs fixing to get into that it went right passed them.

If something like this happens, it would just shite on so much. They are going to have to be very careful with how they do the Emperor.

well its hard to imagine it getting any worse even though they have managed to do that again and again

i think the best thing, and in my opinion the only thing they can do now is, go with the time travel and jump 50 years into the past and start over with a completely new cast and story line that has no precursor to define where it should go.

that way as long as they adhere to the base guidelines of what the force is and how it works, and more importantly, how it doesnt work, then they have the chance to do something that "could" be good as long as it is well written and directed with no SJW forced virtue signaling

Ah yes, the JJ Abrams Star Trek method.

well they took the story line of every charactor and drive it straight head on into a mountain and then set fire to it so there is literally no path forward for it now, not unless they say TFA and TLJ never happened and redo those movies completely

Last Jedi was not as bad as I first thought upon re-watch.

I think a lot of you have forgotten that these movies are owned by Disney and they're made to be a vehicle for children's entertainment first and foremost.

Prequels are also a lot better than the average poster on here probably thinks.

Mike has been pretty spot-on with many of his predictions in the past, so I wouldn’t be surprised if Abrams takes the time-travel route and acts like The Last Jedi mostly never happened.

It’s an unenviable task. Quite frankly, I don’t see how they can salvage the story of this new trilogy after what Rian Johnson left them to work with. They fricked up the character arcs and plot development so badly in The Last Jedi, I don’t see a path forward for this story. This is what happens when you have different writers working on different parts of a story, instead of a unified vision. It’s astonishing how badly Disney has mismanaged one of their most valuable properties.

It will make money. In fact I bet it will make a ton of money. But I don't get the vibe its going to be a biggest money maker of all time and that is what you should be shooting for in the final movie of the 9 movie Skywalker arc.

What they should do, and it sounds like they might just be doing this, is let the movies lay fallow for a couple of years while The Mandalorian and the cartoons do some heavy lifting to cleanse folk's palates.

Then you come back with Star Wars in a different era. The Knights of the Old Republic setting would be great. You could have multiple Jedi and Sith running around, huge space battles, and all sorts of assorted and sundry cool things.

Not watching 41 minutes, but if they're talking about Ep. 9, it's way too late. Selling the franchise to Disney was a horrible mistake. We all knew it then, but were blinded by optimism. Them taking a sharp, SJW turn puts it into super crap territory, but it was already bad nevertheless.
