I think people may have reacted negatively because they're trying to picture Kidman as Lucy Ricardo but that's not what the show is going to be. It's going to about Desi and Lucille not Ricky and Lucy. I wouldn't be surprised if it got a little considering how volatile their relationship was in later years

I don't know Bardem, so I can't really form an opinion on him.

Benicio Del Toro as Ricky, an eccentric collector, or third party government asset.

got a little what? Violent? Kinky? You left out a word there.

Desi, whatever else he was, was still a genius for inventing the syndicated rerun. Syndication turned out to be a much bigger gold mine than a show's original run, in many cases.

Ummmm, terrible. Nicole Kidman isn’t funny for one.

That's what I was getting at with my post. Kidman is going to play the more dramatic side of Lucille Ball's real life. And from some accounts while she was very caring she was a shrewd businesswoman and actually not very funny when she was off camera

I'm not hating it, but can't see it for either one of them.

My first look would be at Esai Morales and Rashida Jones or Leslie Mann

I thought this was about re-casting Lucy and Ricky off of Trailer Park Boys.

Nicole Kidman is hard to watch. Her face no longer moves naturally. It's like she's in a nicole kidman mask.

This was ESPECIALLY true in The Undoing, but it was similar in Big Little Lies.

I like the idea of Kidman as Lucy.

From the looks of that picture it looks like we're going to be distracted by her face and her earlobes

I saw the pics and it seems like Debra Messing would be a much better choice.

I remember Ricky as slim, suave, deep sigh, and hot. From the movies I've seen Bardem in, he's too not slim, not suave, and luke warm at his warmest.

I could maybe see him playing womanizing hot tempered alcoholic Desi though

This movie turned out great. Wouldn’t be surprised if Kidman is nominated for multiple major awards. She had the Ball voice down and she played her “don’t frick with me or my husband“ business attitude to a T. Bardem was as great as usual. J.K. Simmons was on point as William Frawley.

Of course, it’s a Sorkin film so everyone speaks like a Mensan. But that made for an entertaining, well paced film.
