The episode they did that first flash forward to was where they show Tess as a social worker (or whatever) on that Deja-centric episode. But yea, no clue how that ties in to Toby unless Kate is gone and they’re trying to keep him part of the family.
Apparently this Tuesday is supposed to show a lot of ‘nam.

Interesting episode tonight. Not what I was expecting at all!

All I can say right now, is that was a very heavy episode.
Any of the insecure “men” who drop in this thread to challenge men watching this show are uninformed and missing some terrific acting and storylines.

All the character development of Jack should have occurred before revealing he died IMHO. It would have made his death impact even stronger since its showing what kind of character he was.
As for the other parts, kate needs to DIAF. The actress actually got fatter after the producers asked her to lose weight

I don’t think they could drag his death out that long. Too frustrating for most viewers. I think the timing is right on.

I think we were all thinking last night Jacks brother would die in jacks arms heroically in battle.
Doesn’t look like that’s gonna happen.

After watching this episode and seeing how some people watched the draft, I looked up the results of all the picks. I was curious where my birthday fell, it was assigned number 44.

They are on YouTube. Dull and interesting at the same time.

They are like watching an old, bad, black and white telethon.

I enjoyed last night's episode.
Any one else looking forward to Toby's episode next week? I'm excited to see young Toby.

I did the same, ended up with 270, I would not have been called. I found this link if anyone else is curious. USA Today and PBS. Would you have been drafted?

I’m now really trying to figure out how jacks brother ends up dying?
Kid is obviously unstable.
Does he off himself somehow?
Or is he really dead?

You might want to skip Apocalypse Now in that case.
My favorite episode yet of This is Us. Definitely one for the guys. Although I did learn how very little my SO knows about the war. Scary.
It's weird to get so much on Jack now, knowing his tragic fate. but hey, that's life.

Also I can’t wait to see what triggered jacks Dad to become the man he became.
Was a normal dad when jack was a kid and jacks brother was born.
What changed him?

Yep this is what I’m most interested in seeing.
He actually seemed like a decent husband/father at one time.

I was coming here to say that!
The version we've seen thus far is a real shitheel. All of a sudden we see a younger version that seems to be a good dude.
My guess is it's alcohol related. It's clear his dad is a drunk, and from Jack's own experience with alcohol we know the alcoholic gene runs in the family. I'm betting something tragic happens that drives Jack's dad to take a drink, and it snowballs from there.

I got 57 and would have been drafted
