I think it was doomed before her comments that just threw gas on the fire
If the movie were good or it was a property people were itching to see, you could overcome that.
Hollywood needs to quit chasing a market that isn’t there. This bomb doesn’t say it was toxic white males that ignored you, pretty much everyone did. Quit hiring writers that live in a bubble and want to shite all over the source material…or hey don’t and keep hemorrhaging cash

I hate to burst your bubble regarding The Odyssey, but ticket sales are currently very robust and it’s on track to open well above $100 million in the United States.

I thought her comments were overblown a bit. She was ambushed on the gay stuff and she's just not very media savvy. The "making the right people mad" comment wasn't smart but she's a mid-20s actress. They're going to say dumb stuff and I don't think she's in the same zip code as Zeigler when it comes to tanking your movie.

I would think so. Supergirl is a minor character and they took a storyline of hers that would appeal the LEAST to females, who they were depending on to turn out. "Truth, Justice and the American Way" Supergirl may have done ok with females but they served up drunk Wolverine Supergirl. Truly baffling.

Lots of folks saw the latest Jurassic World and Avatar movies, but few can tell you about what they actually saw. Even Oppenheimer got a lot of tickets sold, but few folks went back again. I think it's fair to say we could see something similar with The Odyssey.

We know a few things. The last trailer got ratio'd to almost Snow White levels, there are strong IMAX presales, and the actors simply will NOT shut up about how superior Nolan is to Homer. It's insufferable.
I can already tell it's a bad movie, yes, without seeing it. It may be shot beautifully, well acted but the cast choices are absurd.
Also, there's no Greece premier.
Tells me all I need to know.

I don't think Kaiju deals with logic well

I deal mostly in logic, very well, actually. Point to what I said which you think is in accurate?

Nope. This has nothing to do with super heroes.

What killed this movie was the commercials with KFC.
Gross.
Gross.

Has anyone in here actually seen it? I guess I am in the minority in actually liking Gunn's Superman. I'm kinda curious, because it just seems unlikely to actually be as bad as some of the reviews make out. The actress saying stupid woke crap doesn't define the movie.

Gunn's Superman
It was campy and it shite all over the mythos of Superman. David Corenswet could be a really good Superman but not in this current universe. Superman movies should have a cultural impact. That was a forgettable film.
I don’t think Gunn will get the chance to do the same thing to Batman and WW.

I didn't hate his Superman, it was OK...but average isn't what you're shooting for with that IP
maybe not but even people that are typically in the tank for movies like this are pretty negative about it too
I'll probably catch it on max at some point but don't feel any need to see it in theatres

Do we really want to waste Batman and Wonder Woman on this clown?
Gunn supposedly has Ana Noguiero writing the scripts for Wonder Woman and Teen Titans as well.
He’s most definitely fricking her.

What if they had hired Sidney Sweeney or Margot Robbie for the role? Could that have helped?

Yes but the story would have needed to be different.
If it were an uplifting origin story for Supergirl without the depressing, drunk elements from the movie, it could’ve worked a lot better. That plus making her actually attractive and not “non-binary” like Molly’s portrayal
