I know this is gonna be an unpopular take but I forced myself to rewatch the counselor and the second time around I really liked it. I think I missed the point initially which was that with each decision the characters made they created a new and worse reality and that the main characters original choice created an inescapable outcome. I think the preconceived notions of the film caused a lot of people, including myself, to dislike it.
