We go in circles with these threads. Movies/shows are woke.
Posters complain.
You complain about the posters.
And repeat.

I think a movie about the real story (iirc some frenchmen kicking the arse of a slaving cannibalistic cult) would have been cooler.

Not just this movie, but fall in line for the greater agenda.
Not having it. Wokeanda disappointing

I'm sure you rail against the same issues in movies like The Patriot, or Braveheart, or The Last Samurai.
Every thread about any of those movies invariably devolves into historical inaccuracies. . .
. . .but let's say racism since it is easier than thinking.

No surprise you’re here complaining about a movie with black people in it.

The M/TV board held out as a quality board longer than most. For quite a long time there was mostly good discussions on movies and television. But in the long run, it has succumbed to the poli-board people who only care about their political ideology.
Quarantining the political nut jobs was this site’s best hope for a reasonable future. Now it’s a trash can. It is amazing how fast and efficiently politics broke this site.

Because people use reviews like this to decide when and where to spend their precious time and money on movies.
If you’re not capable of reading the synopsis of The Woman King and figuring out whether or not it sounds like something you might enjoy, you need a helmet.
Moana had a CinemaScore of A and 95% on RT. Did you go see it in theater with your buddies, or on a date night? Probably not, unless you’re an idiot.

Without a hint of irony, these words are written in defense of a movie that turns history on it’s head to just make another white people evil/black people good story.
Honest question. Did you watch the movie?

He was not. I watched the director’s commentary many many many times as a child and the director talks about how they struggled with whether to make him a slave owner or not and they decided to say he was not because otherwise he would be to unlikable. The movie got critiqued at the time for being unrealistic for that.
I also read the novelization multiple times because I was 10. He employed freed men only.

I already told him that Mel Gibson wasn't a slave owner on the top of page two. That bit of factual information got downvoted but why that happened is unclear.

He was based on Francis Marion, who did own slaves. So they changed history to make a slave owner the hero.

No, his servants were all freedmen.

You didn't watch the Patriot. The blacks said they were free when the Brits offered them freedom.

Let’s be honest. Maybe it would be “avoidable” if sites such as Breitbart didn’t amplify it because if there’s one thing that’s true, it’s “if you aren’t clicking the story because you’re woke, you’re clicking the story because you hate the woke.”
Edit: I might even go so far as to say that 90 percent of the readership of these stories are anti-woke people hate-reading the woke stories. Not that there’s nothing worth hating in these stories. But there’s obviously a manipulation going on. Sean Penn’s opinion on politics, no matter how stupid, doesn’t affect most people’s day-to-day lives. But people love to hate Sean Penn so it drives readership when he has something stupid to say.

You’ve only been here since the site had already gone to absolute shite, so you wouldn’t know.
This used to be such a better forum. Movie/TV actually discussed movies and TV. It was so wild. On MSB they discussed sports. Insane!
But then the collective site started to get obsessed with social justice warriors and shoehorned SJW this or that into everything. Soon after, that morphed into woke this and woke that. And now you can hardly go a single thread without some loser(s) whining about woke Hollywood.
Maybe entertainment has changed, sure. But this site changed much more substantially, much faster.

If Hollywood has gone far left with politics should it be ignored?
