Both DLC are fantastic and I hate DLC.
I love Blood & Wine because it doesn't rain every 3 minutes.

Yea, the weather improvement has definitely been nice.
Had a nice moment where I had about 15 guards and 4 dogs all crowded on this small walkway of this ruin siege tower getting the second and third diagram. Put my shield sign on and then just held down X as I whirlwind balded through all of them. Felt so good

I'm playing The Wild Hunt right now, haven't played any of the others.
The only thing that's frustrating to me is that all of his sword attacks have him move around (or maybe I just suck).
There's a fight where you need to stay inside the protective bubble of a witch and I keep leaping out of it without meaning to and taking damage.
Any tips on what I'm doing wrong?
PS4 console btw.

It has been forever since I played the wild hunt, so i'm a little fuzzy on the mission.
I think I remember it though. I had some trouble with that one too. The sword attacks are going to move you around, so you have to start them with some planning. Do you normally lock on to the enemy? I found I hated locking onto them for the most part. I'd use the camera to control where my attacks went instead.
The combat mechanics can be a little frustrating, especially at first. Once you get the hang of it though, and find a strategy that works for you, it gets really rewarding.

Stay on the outside edge of the bubble away from her, and attack when she's in the center. Generally you can get a power attack or two in, but yeah it's tight quarters.
Once you start going after the bigger bads, you'll be pumped Geralt moves so much, because a large portion of the end enemies will kill you in two to three hits.

Thanks.
After you've cleared out the devil dogs and the air has cleared you have to fight a death knight looking BBEG.
That fight was pretty broken, just a grind of staying away from him while witch hit him with spells for no damage but stun him and spamming him with your fire spell for about an hour.
I wasn't impressed with that encounter design, but I'm liking the game.

I don't ever really remember using the Igni spell very much. Was this the Witch by the Well mission?

No, after that. You go looking for a witch that has intel you need. You end up in a cave looking for an elf and the wild hunt is there ahead of you. They leave behind an undead knight and some devil dog things.
I'm still really new to the game so there's a good chance I'm using the wrong spells on stuff.

ohhhhhh I remember that fight. That is the one where he keeps popping into the bubble and regenerating dogs.
Yea, Igni worked on the dogs, but doesn't do much for him.
Heavy sword attacks work well after a good dodge. Quen is a good sign against him as it shields you.
The spells are fine, but depending on your build, aren't you main way of fighting. The game is designed that you don't really have to use them if you don't want to. From my experience, I wouldn't go into a fight trying to rely on them as your main DPS method. They are much more to give you an opening to get in some good blows with your sword or give you some space to recover.

I just played that. I didnt think it was overly difficult, just have to take your time. I hate when im just out and about and i have 3-5 enemies attacking me. cause 3-4 hits and im dead. i know the whole strategy of pulling one out one at a time but that shite gets old.
When the heck will my crossbow become something you can actually use and not just piss monsters off.

It’s a good game but after just finishing Horizon Zero Dawn, I gotta day I prefer a “shooter” to a “slasher”.
The gameplay and mechanics are so much smoother with HZD.

I'd suggest staying away from the magic tree and going with the battle tree or potions tree (probably suggest battle tree for a first timer).
And quen sign is your friend much of the time, particularly as you are learning the game. I wouldn't suggest igni very often.

I have read all the books and played the games. I just dont see how anyone that lived the books can like the show. Yes Geralt is ok, yes the fight scenes are cool but the rest of the casting is atrocious, the writing takes huge liberties from the books, and it's so far removed I just can't accept it. I thought witcher 3 was far more aligned with the characters and writing than the show. Really disappointed.

This is a ridiculous take, the Witcher show is literally the most accurate to the source material of any show I've seen. Pretty much the only major part the changed was not having ciri meet geralt at brokilon forest, which I didn't like. But other than some episodes being a little rushed, they basically followed the short stories all the way.

it's been several years since i read the short stories, but i dont remember them being very different from what the show has depicted. seemed pretty faithful to me

SPOILERS.
First episode off the top of my head Kalamthe is a 40ish warrior grandmother with a 15 year old ciri granddaughter. Kalamthe goes out in a suit of armor and fights on the front lines. That's just ridiculous. In the books when the keep was being overrun she stands with her people. She is depicted as a stately grandmotherly type. Not a 40ish warrior in armor. How does someone her age have a 15 year old grand daughter? Ciri was born when she was 25-30? Come on. Ciri screaming huge rents in the ground to escape centra? That's a bit much and nothing like what happened in the books. Everyone telling her it's her destiny. Kalamthe didnt want her to go with geralt and didnt believe in it to begin with. Why alter these things?
