Yea, everyone should have realized there was at least two timelines going on by episode 3 with Ada & Foltest.

So this is a little silly. It’s a TV show and it’s not supposed to be only for people who’ve read the books or played the games. It’s not crazy for people to expect to be able to follow what is going on.
.
My wife has no Witcher material reference whatsoever and she loved this show, and was also explaining stuff to me like the timelines.

It's not hard to follow at all if you have half a brain

been through 5 episodes. bought the game this weekend when it went on sale for 15 bucks. Only played a few hours but its amazing even 4 years old. Its like a darker, more in depth skyrim

I agree it isn’t that difficult but he’s suggesting that if you haven’t read the books or played the game you shouldn’t complain about not being able to follow the timeline

Yep. When I played it, that was my first reaction. Once you get out of the tutorial location, the game opens up some magnificently.

But it stays bleak all the way through.

Oh for sure, just meant that part of the game is a little slow and plotting.

The way they depicted the episode on the law of surprise and how it ties into Ciri was not ideal imo.

no doubt. very poorly done. it could've been explained much better

i finished episode 6 last night. i really dont understand what the show's budget went to. it's GOT-esque at $10M per episode, but everything feels so second-rate. the CGI is AWFUL. I have been really pleased with the acting, for the most part. Dandelion/Jaskier is perfect.

it's a pretty good show, but I think I feel that way because I've consumed every bit of witcher media possible. not sure I'd feel the same if i came in as a total noob

if any of yall want to pick up the books, read Last Wish and Sword of Destiny first. these are the short story anthologies which the show pulls from

after those, read Blood of Elves -> Time of Contempt -> Baptism of Fire -> Tower of the Swallow -> Lady of the Lake

I thought it explained it just fine. Once again, I'm thrilled with a show that doesn't treat us like we need to have piles and piles of dumbed down exposition.

there's a big gap in between "incessant expository dialogue" and "brush over it real quick." the countless articles and forum posts from people asking for clarity show that it was a bit too rushed.

we knew what it was in advance bc of our history with the series. it might take a few viewings for newcomers to grasp though.

And that could be a big part of it. Ive had more friends rewatching this from start to finish than anything I can ever remember. And really enjoying it more the 2nd go. I'd like to see the replay numbers.

yeah i think it will get a lot of rewatches because it's a quick watch and the world has so much to take in

another good resource for most here would be World of the Witcher. $26.95 on Amazon I own it and it's an amazing book. Has maps, histories, descriptions of creatures and races, etc

It is very much in the "dark fantasy" genre.

Much like Dragon Age, but bleaker.

Series vs Books - 7 key differences for the Witcher series.

This helps explain why certain things are done certain ways.

In the books you get very little true insight into Yennifer's life prior to meeting Geralt; but the writers wanted to help build her story more using hints and queues from the stories.

Feel like the last half of the season was worse than the first half.

Change my mind
