This moment was built up all season, and in the end he happens to get brought to a house she was just in, hears ‘girl in the woods’ and immediately thinks it must be Ciri, goes into the woods looking for her and magically Ciri (who ran off much earlier) is right there.
It was destiny. They did set it up when he was hallucinating about his mom. She mentioned destiny will always bring them together. So, it was a coincidence that they were at the same house, but that was destiny making it happen. Also, I took it as Witcher hearing "a girl in the woods" as more destiny as well.
I do agree that they made it look like she ran off much earlier and away from the home. I was thinking it was setting up for Geralt looking for her more in the next season.

Their bond was strengthened even further through this whole setup, as the guy he saved before getting bitten offered him law of surprise as a reward for saving his life. The guy's wife was intent on adopting Ciri and he didn't know yet as it happened while he was gone, so she was the law of surprise reward for Geralt...again.

I didn't think of that. Good point.

how quickly the resolution of Geralt meeting Ciri happened in the last episode.
It was indeed built up all season, but the abruptness worked for this. As another poster pointed out, you can't escape destiny. To add to that, on a purely story telling level, the abruptness followed by the abrupt ending of it was the perfect play of the cliffhanger BECAUSE of the long buildup. That abruptness toys with our psyche and forces us to want to see the resolution

Fair enough. Like I said, I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Only other gripe was with the mage who was clogging the doorway with vines.
Why’d she have to stand so damn close to it to get the magic to work??? Two more feet backwards and she’s fine.

That is simple. She may not have been strong enough to project the vine shield that far. Mages have varying power. She simply wasn't powerful enough to create the vines at a distance.
I wish I hadn't come back to this thread. Now I am reminded how damn long we have to wait for the next season.

Finally, finished this up. I've read the books and played the games.
All in all, I loved almost all of it, especially how they portrayed Geralt and Dandelion's relationship.
However, there was one glaring thing I could not get over. Yennifer is horribly cast and written. The actress is beautiful, but I cannot accept her as Yennifer. Yen was seductive, haughty, vengeful, conniving, but she was never petulant and needy like she is written in the show. She comes off like a teenage girl rather than a damn near 100 year old sorceress.
Oh well, Caville nails it on all counts.

I just started watching this, I'm on episode three. I've never read the books or played the game. All I know is that it's good so far and Yennifer with the purple eyes is absolutely stunning.
ETA: Lol. Posted before reading any of this thread, particularly the one above this.
