The Wire was my first exposure to Idris Elba. Blew my mind when I found out he was British.
He stars in a British cop series called "Luther". You might want to check it out if you haven't already. There is also a "Luther" movie, but I haven't had a chance to watch it yet.
The guy who plays McNulty (Dominic West) is also British.

On season 3 of my 5th re-watch. Love this show and only idiots and edge lords talk shite about it.
And of course, HBO Max is the only streaming service that I don't have

Great writing and character development(aided by superior performances).

On Season 5 of my 4th or 5th rewatch, but I’m struggling to get through it. Only season I didn’t care for. Splitting time with a Tudors rewatch to get through it.
In my memory, seasons 2-4 deviated too much from chasing the street criminals in shifting the story to the docks, politicians, and schools - but on rewatch that isn’t the case. They stuck to it pretty well throughout.

The scenes feel dated, as does the production value at times
The scenes are dated. The story takes place in 2002. The production values are often trying to convey life on the street and in the halls of government. I thought they were fine too.

One one the greatest openings to a show of all time.
This scene gets me every time.
Right off the bat I was drawn in.
The America line is classic, McNulty look after that was great.
Idris in the Luther series is amazing.
Movie was great too.
Plus its only like 20 episodes total.
My man Slim Charles is cooler than the other side of the pillow.
Never get tired of watching The Wire

When you understand the story of Snot Boogie you understand life.
Got to, this is America man.
Opening scenes don't get no stronger than that.

season 4 was probably the greatest season in tv history. Season 2 first watch was my least favorite season at the time. Season 2 on the 2nd and 3rd rewatch was a masterpiece. Season 3 was also fantastic.

This. It’s still my #1.
Man, a first-time Wire thread and a first-time Black Sails thread on the first page? People are coming around to some excellent television this week.

Don't forget my first time Game of Thrones yet.
I've only seen the first episode though I haven't had a chance to watch more than that this week. Enjoyed the first episode though.

The wire revolutionized the way TV dramas were written, that’s what makes it so great, there has never been a show like that before

I was lucky enough to meet the creator and Anthony Bourdain In Eunice while they were filming the Cochon de lait at Lakeview

My wife and I started Breaking Bad for the first time earlier this week and are already half-way through S2.

Loved the wire with my first watch through. My second it was even more enjoyable.

I’ve never seen this and want to. Would my wife like it?
We don’t watch a ton of series due to time, but in the past she’s really liked Battlestar Galactica, NCIS (Original and LA), CSI (Original), Firefly and Gilmore Girls.

If she liked NCIS and CSI then yeah, she'd like this.
Just finished season 2. Damn they did my boy Frank bad.
