I don't understand the hype. If you guys want a entertaining and funny police involved show give the first Justified a watch.

Every show its not meant for everyone. You dont need to understand the hype if you dont like it.

Justified is amazing, prefer it to BB.
I am pretty sure the board is a fan of Justified also.

Finished S3 Last night. My take away is that they've done a masterful job on the writing. I feel like I got about 50% of what's going down with the city politics. Don't know if my questions will be answered in the next two seasons, or will only be answered on a rewatch. The deals happen so fast, and most of the deal goes with what is unsaid.

This sounds funny, but I'm having a major problem understanding Cignetti (Littlefinger) I've seen Game of Thrones 4 times through and I keep getting tripped up by his American accent.

Great show.

Guess it depends on when you first saw some one, I had no idea he wasn’t American when I saw him in GOT
I knew Dominic West (Mcnaulty) was British going in from Rock Star.

I also didn’t know Lt/Capt/Major Winters in Band of Brothers was British

I didn't know that, and I couldn't tell!
I've never seen Dominic West in anything else.

I knew Idris Elba was British going in, and I thought he did a pretty good job with his accent. You can kind of tell there's something off about it, but I think that they made him slightly different from everyone else - a businessman not a street guy - allowed the quirks with his accent work.

No way! I caught him in Fackham Hall (hated it the show) and I thought he was faking the british accent. LOL

Was it S2 when he was going under cover and was practicing a bad-fake British accent? That has a whole new light if you know he’s British
He’s in 300 and Rock Star is pretty good.

I didn’t know him and if I have one nit pick with the Wire it’s his accent, he just doesn’t sound “hood” imo. But it’s such a great character that can be overlooked

Finished S4 over the weekend. I like how they've taken everything full circle. Probably my favorite season so far. I've got questions, but it's hard searching the internet and trying to avoid spoilers on a 20 year old show. But at this point, any outcome for any character wouldn't be a surprise.

David Simon has been posting a lot of background about the show over the last two weeks on BlueSky. Interesting stuff.

Finished it last night. Man, what a great show. Great writing. I'm going to be hitting google today to find out where the actors have been, what else the writers/producer has done, cultural impact, etc. The show deserves the praise it gets.

I've said it before, I'm not a fan of the genre. I dislike organized crime movies. Probably because after seeing The Godfather series, everything else seems derivative.

I rank Breaking Bad as one of my top TV series of all time. And it's unfair to compare The Wire to BB. BB does a deep dive on the characters, The Wire does deep dives on various social systems. Hell probably the deepest character arc in The Wire is Bubbles.

In the end, the magic of The Wire is what happens on the street, and the way they told that story through different lenses is masterful.

The show deserves a rewatch. Thanks to everyone who talked it up all these years.

Only show I can remember where you felt a weird sense of loss after the last episode that stayed with you for a couple of days.

Also have had this quote among others in my phone since:
