If you haven't seen the original British version, give it a watch.

The original British version is a classic. Very much a slow burn sort of creepy.

SPOILERS:

The revelation that the whole missing kid scenario was just a trap to lure him to the island to be sacrificed was much more effectively done in the original.

I hate that I have to specify "original" when I'm talking about this movie. It's one of so many that should have never been remade. Poltergeist, Carrie, Arthur, etc. Stupid Hollywood.

I rarely enjoy terrible movies but I can't say I was mad after watching this. Cage was an awesome caricature of himself. There were some good laughs. I don't think I will rewatch but I use the bees animated gif all the time.

Did someone say bees? Oprah likes bees too.

This was the only movie I've ever ejected from my DVD player and immediately inserted into my shredder.

The Wicker Man (2006)

I honestly believe this is one of the worst remakes in history.

I come to that conclusion based on a simple metric: how great was the original, and how awful was the remake?

The Wicker Man ('06) in my top-5 worst remakes.

You can’t just write about how bad Neil LaBute’s remake of The Wicker Man starring Nicolas Cage is. It’s not that simple. The movie is so patently terrible, from the “acting” to the “suspense” to the “political themes” that talking about it as ‘bad’ is like referring to the Holocaust as ‘a bummer.’ I’m not actually comparing this stupid movie to the Holocaust, but I’m saying that it definitely has some Holocaustian elements in it. I’m not saying Nicolas Cage is Hitler, but I’m saying that he’s definitely caused suffering to millions of people.

Hunt for the worse movie

Pretty much echos my feelings.

Arthur is worse. I guess it depends on how much you loved the original. I wasn't a huge fan of the original Wicker Man. Whereas I love me some Arthur. The remake was painful and had none of the heart of the original. It was an abomination but so was Arthur 2.

This is correct.

The movie is by no means good, but that doesn't mean it wasn't fun. Cage goes all in every time and it's fascinating to watch.

I couldn't agree more.

I'd love to see Gladiator remade with Cage.

Also, Forrest Gump and James Bond

Say what you want about Cage, he gives his a every movie he's in.

It's why movies like this, and face-off, and Gone in 60 seconds are entertaining.
