The reason people don't remember that in most zombie films that everyone is infected is because the most popular zombie film of the past decade was 28 Days Later. Of which technically the things in 28 Days Later are not zombies because they are still very much alive with a virus called "rage".
28 Days Later is a great movie and possible cousin of the zombie genre, but it is not a Zombie film.
From wiki:

George Romero is regarded as the godfather of the zombie genre. In his original film in 1968 Night of the Living Dead, death by any means resulted in becoming a zombie. In 2005's Land of the Dead a guy committed suicide and he soon after became a zombie.

Romero's original Night of the Living Dead explains that an unknown phenomenon causes re-animation of the brain. Instead of being spread from person to person, the phenomenon presents itself in any human that has recently died from any cause (except those that destroy the physical structure of the brain). The first animated corpses appear in many locations simultaneously, quickly reaching pandemic levels. Characters speculate about the cause of the phenomenon; suggestions at various times include a spaceborne virus, divine punishment, radiation from a satellite returning from Venus, or that "there's no more room in Hell". While bites from these reanimated creatures are uniformly lethal, by mechanics unknown, death by other means would have the same result, so a bite is not necessary.

You should all avoid this months Playboy. You might learn too much about Michonne.

If only we could dig a moat around the spoilers so they don't get out. Of course, what happens when too many spoilers begin to fill up the moat? Can you burn spoilers?

That wasn't my point. I was simply saying that I don't understand the exception to the norm Walking Dead is with the separation of the literature and the show. As with almost any other program or film the notion of a film causes more people to read what will happen before they see the film.
And this is why you fail to realize that 1) this is NOT the case(we do not want to read the graphic novel) and 2) you are so narrow-minded( much like Shane) that you fail to see that MAYBE, just maybe there might be other people who would like to see the story unfold naturally and talk about it as it happens.

This. Plus I don't care about zombie 101. My favorite zombie movie is Shaun.

Damn work getting in the way.
To continue my discussion with cocomo – our fundamental disagreement is over “what is a spoiler”. Character names or discussing things already in the show to me is not a spoiler. It can’t be as, well, it already happened. And I don’t disagree with Cocomo that people shouldn’t say “X person dies”.
But let’s say there was a Star Wars TV show based off the films and you hadn’t seen the movies. And at the end of season 2, there’s a long shot of the Death Star and a brief appearance of Chewbacca. Thos of us who had seen the movie we wouldn’t be “spoiling” anything to post excitement over those two things showing up. Now, posting that the Death Star is going to blow up Leia’s homeworld would be way out of bounds, and getting into Chewi’s relationship with Han would similarly be out of bounds. But saying “Cool! These awesome things are now in the TV show!” is not a spoiler. And the non-spoiler people need to remove the stick from their posterior about it.
For the record, I don’t post speculation about future events for the reason Cocomo stated. I’m willing to be considerate and not say, “Oh, this is gonna happen!” also for the very good reason it probably won’t, given the show’s track record. I’m willing to be considerate about external knowledge, but my consideration stops at refusing to be excited about things which have happened on the show and point to future awesomeness. And I don’t really want to participate in the spoiler thread because I don’t want to read about future scripts or whatever. I just want to be able to say, “F YEAH! MICHONNE!” I don’t think that’s unreasonable in the least.

Dude...Star Wars spoilers.

While I do agree with that, there is a difference between that and "Yes...Carl is becoming the badass that he is in the comics.." To me, that is definitely a spoiler. I don't want to know the future of anyone's character arcs. To continue your SW example, it would be like saying "Oh, looks like Vader is starting to become a good guy like we know he ends up being." That would ruin one of the best parts of the SW saga for someone not in the know.
That's massive spoilers IMO.
Also, getting excited about certain things can spoil shite anyway. Example: If someone guessed "I wonder if Rick and Shane are gonna come to a head and one will have to put the other down..?" and a known comic/spoiler reader quotes it and posts "
The two groups are simply not on the same level of knowledge (comic readers have the information, nonreaders don't want the information). It's the whole point as to why there are separate threads for the separate groups to discuss things. And not wanting something to be spoiled doesn't mean someone has a stick up their arse...it just means they don't want shite spoiled. Movies and shows simply aren't as fun/good when you already know the outcome. That's what we, as nonreaders, are trying to avoid, and it's why the thread is labeled as such (no spoilers). Why even tread down the slippery slope of posting ANY spoilers (no matter how small you think they may be)? That's what I don't understand (and that's not so much directed at you, but in general).

This would of been useful for the farm.

So if someone said "frick yeah, she is a bad arse" after Michonne showed up but did not state her name, would that have been a spoiler? It could just be the poster commenting on how she looks bad arse wielding a katana and having zombies on chains. Or would it depend on if the poster is a known comic book reader? Or is it just the usage of a name...This is confusing...there is too many layers.
Don't know how any future WD threads can avoid spoiler witch hunts were every comment will be suspicious even if it is pure speculation just due to a fear of possible comic book readers.
And if spoilers on the movie/tv board are such a concern which it seems they are. Why don't we have a mod program a script for the website where you can black out lines of text as spoilers and readers have to click on it to reveal the text as such sites as Reddit use?

Tracy Morgan is going to play Michonne; Kirkman was just throwing everyone off the trail during the Talking Dead.

Wow the spoiler argument continues. I did a spoiler when I posted about Michonne!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!,I was excited to see the character. Sorry to all the natural story folks. Please forgive me.
I really enjoyed the finale. The only thing that tweaked me was that none of the vehicles had bug out bags(supplies) when they fought the horde. Episode before everyone was turning the house into a fort and no thought about a quick get away. I doubt that mistake will be made again.
