What I don't get is, when a movie based on a book comes out, everyone compares it the two. People will go out and read the book. People will discuss what was different or similar. Like how dark Jurassic park was supposed to be. Is that movie spoiled if one mentions dinosaurs escaped the island in it? No because the movie never followed the book.
A thread where people discuss differences between a movie and a book AFTER the movie is released is completely different.
If I start a thread saying I'm excited about seeing The Hunger Games on Friday and you come into it and discuss all of the major plotlines and surprises, I'd be pretty fricking pissed.
Personally, I've found that reading a book and then seeing the movie makes me enjoy the movie less. I prefer seeing the movie first, then reading the book because the books are usually much better and you get to see what all was left out of the movie. Obviously, sometimes I read a book before I know a movie will be made.

I don't think they had cast the actress yet at that point, so they went with the hood to obscure the person's identity until they had someone.
But also a much more mysterious way to end the season...better IMO than if they would have revealed her.

This, the ending was perfect. Leaves you wanting more, and slightly upset that there will be such a long wait to find out who that person was or what the significance of the building at the end was.
This appeases both the comic readers and the Z-day fanboys. I think it is a great example of less is more. By the swordsman not revealing itself and the prison not being seen by the survivors yet, allows the viewer to insert their own speculation into the next season.
I will watch the show regardless, but the "where's Sophia" story-line sucked and I hope they do not revisit that or have anything similar. Though it could be said, that the loss of Sophia "toughened up" the survivors and made letting go easier.
They had no problem leaving Andrea, and T-dog (is his name Tyrese?, and T-Dog a nick name?) had no problem leaving behind everyone to get to the coast.

You can keep trying to claim that it is not a very common element in zombie films that everyone is infected, but it won't make it true.
I didn't say it is true, just that I don't recall it in the zombie movies I've seen. Rarely do they get into why people are zombies, they're usually just there and a bite is what turns you.
If it is so inherent in zombie culture (of which I am obviously not as familiar as others), then why would it be such a HUGE secret with a big reveal on this show?

I've never seen them call him anything other than T-Dawg, which is obviously ridiculous that they call him that.

I think the only way to settle this debate is a steel cage deathmatch, Cocomo vs. Enigma.
Perhaps Chicken can host the online viewing with his new site, zombiedroppings.com. This is of course assuming that zombies poop. If they don't, he'll have to find another name for the site.

I get that the two are not the same, but you can't discuss Game of Thrones without mentioning the author of the books. Why is it so taboo to mention comics here. Like I said the comics are very graphic and the show does not really follow them. But why is it fine to Discuss the Song of Fire and Ice saga in the Game of Thrones threads?
Given how closely Game of Thrones sticks to the source material, one would think it would be a bigger taboo. Having read the books, I am pretty sure I know how the next 3-4 seasons will go. The Walking Dead is far more willing to stray from the comics (I have not read the comics but suspect the show would be better if it had personally).

Honestly, I'm a big fan of Zombie movies, and I didn't remember seeing the "everyone is infected" thing before. It is an interesting twist, but I don't think I like it. Kind of sucks to know, no matter what, you will become a Zombie when you die. ( unless you are shot in the head)
I wonder what caused the virus, and who created it?
Is it a world-wide epidemic? Located in just one part of the world ( a la 28 days later)?
It is a great concept, and I like that its a TV show, and not a movie as more can be explained. I also like that the "Walking Dead" is not about the Zombies, but about how people react to a Zombie apocalypse. The people really are the walking dead, they are just trying to prolong the inevitable.

If a prison is the final establishing shot of a season, chances are pretty good the prison is pretty damn important going forward or else they wouldn't have closed the season on that note. Complaining about that as a "spoiler" is absurd. And I have little patience for it. If someone who has read the comics says there is going to be a "prison season", that answers questions about what's going to occur next season. By definition that's a spoiler. This isn't a show about prisons. Maybe normally after that shot I would assume they would spend a lot of episodes there, but given that we just had a season about which there were widespread complaints of spending too much time in one spot, I hoped not. Either way, if this was an original work it wouldn't matter but when people who KNOW what happened in the original say something about the future of the show, thats a problem IMO even if it's something you could guess, b/c they are guessing with insider info.
And talk about needing to get over yourself, what's with all of this talk about your "patience"?

Didn't Jenner tell them it was worldwide? I know he talked about the French.

I need to re-watch some of last season, because I thought T-dawg had a name in episode one, and don't remember much of Jenner.
Also; lets just drop the spoiler/no spoiler thing. I won't even mention any printed material in this thread from here on. Lets drop the last eight pages and move on to a topic we all enjoy. Zombies... and this show..

Knowing about "the governor" is not a spoiler. When the director makes a big announcement about an actor to play a character it's not a spoiler to know a major character will soon be introduced. You are way too sensitive about supposed spoilers. As Coloradobengal stated anything talked about on the show and Talking Dead is fair game.
quote:
Anything seen in The Walking Dead, or the Talking Dead, should be considered fair game. Its totally public knowledge. I'll keep interviews and what not in a separate category. Those could go either way. They are certainly public knowledge, but they could contain spoiler material. It happens.
Actually, I'd like to see the discussion of the Walking Dead and Talking Dead kept seperate. I always DVR Walking Dead and usually start watching it about halfway or a little more through, and then go to bed. I've only watched one episode of Talking Dead through two seasons, but because others have, I have read a few spoilers in the show discussion. Nothing major, but spoilers nonetheless

Exactly. And I've seen my fair share of zombie flicks. I literally never once remember there being an issue of "we all have it, all you have to do is die.." It's almost always been about the bites, blood, etc. MSaint and LSUZombie say it's Zombie 101, but I've literally never heard of it until this show. And I was a little aggravated that it was spoiled for me/others.

I've never seen the talking dead. I usually watch this show Monday or Tuesday, because I am busy on Sunday nights.
So I do get that aspect. I have no idea what they spoil on that show, but I do get its a separate show. That said, i doubt the network would allow one show to totally spoil the other.
Same reason many people hate to see previews. I know my Dad refuses to watch movie trailers because he hates to be spoiled.

Maybe you care about that, but I don't. TD.com isn't about being afraid of admins, thankfully. I also don't appreciate admins attempting to stifle viewpoints, especially when they do it in such a way that implicitly
condones an act (posting minor spoilers) that
would seem to be antithetical to the spirit of the board/thread.
