I thought Merle went on his own? Or did he and Rick just make it look that way for Rick's sake?

That kid stepping in front of the bullet at the last second wouldn't have saved him. At that range, a .223 bullet would have passed right through and hit the Governor anyway.

this was my first thought when he told merle about it

I think its because he knew merle was stone cold

Merle was the only person that was shitty enough to do it. Or they thought

next week is the last of the season. When does the next season start back up?

Really good episode last night. I wish they'd have started "the war" in this episode, and looking at the previews for next week we might not even get the war at all (wtf?), but overall it was a solid episode.
I liked the Merle angle and that it's finally over and he's done. Really liked Darryl in this episode, especially how upset he was at the end to see his big brother gone. Darryl's character arc of loner to "family man" (in terms of the group) has been really good. Deep down he's always been a good guy and like he said, just wanted his brother back.
Liked the Merle/Michonne interactions, and was glad he let her go. I agree with what someone said on the last page...it's good to see Merle have a little change in heart, even if he's still the same a-hole, because that's how you'd expect him to be. Also liked the Merle/Carol conversation as well.
The thing that's gonna piss me off, though, is if they've built up this battle for basically 2/3 of the season and it doesn't ever really happen. I know the previews are edited to make you think certain ways and whatnot, but there better be some resolution with Woodbury cuz it's time to move onto the next big plot line...they've drug this one out enough.
And I noticed the car/rims too...that was kinda weird, but I tried not to let it bother me really.

I will say this....Merle had a pretty danged good plan to attack Woodbury crew. Attract a large herd of zombies to force them into shooting them. Then hide and snipe them off one at a time during all the shooting.
Me too. I still say it will be some anticlimatic thing. I think t-dog 3.0 and his wife or Andrea/Milton do the Gov in.

Merle told Michonne that he was doing it because he didn't think Rick would go through with it. He specifically said "He would have blinked".

It was also a hedge on the idea that the Governor would still kill everyone anyway. If Merle brings her, there's a chance (albeit a small one) that the Governor would actually leave them alone. But if he decided to kill whoever was there, all they lose is Merle, who was dividing the group anyway.

Scissors are still available in the zombie apocalypse

I don't think the plan was for merle to go alone so I don't believe that was in the thought process

Ahh. I didn't know the specifics of the plan because I was watching Dunk City.

Merle took it upon himself to take Michonne in because he didn't think Rick & Daryl would go through with it.
Then he didn't even go through with it.
I liked the episode a lot... I was thinking Daryl would make it in time to save Merle, but that was obviously wrong. Sucks to see Merle go, he was one of the best actors on the show and the character had started to grow on me.

You know what this show needs? More Ghost Lori.

I did too. Though it seems like a throw-away segment of the show, I thought Glenn going ring shopping was awesome. It shows just how much the survivors have come to know the zombies, and not panic or freeze in fear around them, and take advantage when they can

i think the prison will be full of walkers when Gov gets there. Keep them distracted then lock them inside and burn it down

Governor and crew chase rick and Glenn through the prison. Carl waits until they are all inside and closes the door trapping them. Rick let's the zombies into the yard so now the gov and crew is trapped between walkers entering the prison from the knocked down back wall and yard.
Darryl, Hershel, Milton, Andrea (rescued by tyress and Milton), & tyress take over Woodbury and the final scene is rick looking back at the prison and seeing the governor and crew trapped as rick makes his way to reunite with the rest at Woodbury.

And seeing ghost Lori one last time. She "burns" with the Woodbury crew. Effectively ending both story lines.
