It's pretty fricking terrible IMO. I get what they were trying to do with it, and the underlying message. But the execution of it was just hilariously bad.

Margaret Qually is borderline perfection in it though. That woman is incredible. (though disappointing to see she was enhanced with prosthetics for the movie )

I watched this last night. It felt like a movie length episode of Black Mirror. I liked it but I didn't love it.

Watched it, didn't really like it. Over the top acting and very odd plot. You'd think she'd take better care of both halves instead she beat herself to death and pulled her teeth out? The last 20 minutes turned into an almost horror movie.
Decent make up effects.

I was wondering about that when I watched it yesterday. Parts of her looked very much like cheap prosthetics.

People are voicing complaints about the final act, and while it was somewhat of a tonal shift, for fans of movies like Slither and Society, it was a lot of fun.

Margaret Qualley was the best they could do?

I thought the same thing initially, she’s not overly gorgeous and not comparable to a young Demi let alone an “improved” Demi, but she did a great job with the role.

And I needed that. What a depressing movie for and old hag like me to watch.

I still cried on the way home from the theater. I didn’t realize it was streaming. I’ll have to do a rewatch because I loved it.

The allegory is pretty on the nose but it's so well made you gotta appreciate it. Great performances and great body horror.

Qualley looks incredible and spends the entire movie naked and it's one of those rare movies where nudity actually has a point to the plot besides eye candy.

Her looking so good shows the temptation of being drawn into the situation.

The ridiculous ending works for me, there's really no sane way to end a movie like that, they decide to just embrace the fact it's a dark fairy tale.

wife and I tried to watch this last night, got about halfway and bailed. Not terrible but pretty gross. I read about the ending I’m kinda glad we didn’t see it LOL

We watched this the other day. Definitely not my usual movie genre, not really a fan of horror, but it was entertaining. Sort of a Cinderella Disney princess thing crammed together with Jekyll and Hyde, Carrie and the Toxic Avenger.

Finally watched this tonight. It wasn't bad, but I probably would have liked it better if it was about 45 minutes shorter. For as long as it was, it didn't have much, um, substance.

I guess masquerading as some profound arthouse flick got it nominations during award season, but the concept was original enough that I think it would've been more fun as a straight horror. I was laughing out loud during the last half hour.

All I can say is WTF did I just watch? The producers of this movie are really messed up in the head.

I’ve seen a lot of weird shite in my time… and this… was the latest.

I can’t help thinking there’s a better movie in here and it would not have been hard to make that happen.

The first 30 minutes was wonderfully shot and edited. It said so much by saying so little. I was really into it. And then… the ending was the opposite. It said so little by saying too much.

the body horror was just dumb. it completely dumbed down what was an interesting premise and some excellent film craft and acting. i'm not sure how you pull off the idea without at least some of it, but...an entire adult human grows inside your own similarly sized body and bursts out your back? i mean really...

it was just dumb

Agree. I think they had a great opportunity with the story line but turned it into a joke at the end

Just a missed opportunity for a good storyline.

agree, for example if they’d have taken the execution of the premise from Michael Crichton’s book “prey” (nanobots that surround the host and shape-shift the host) they could have kept the entire allegory intact and wound up at the same place with the “new” version of her and the original at each other’s throats

I agree. My brother-in-law (no pics) tried to sell us on it, but body horror just isn't our bag.

Caught this last night. It was ok but dragged on. I thought surely it was over when “gollum” died on the glass table. Everything after that just wasn’t for me.
