Seriously? Maybe because he's not Caucasian... But his personality and his appearance... he's the most superhero actor that Hollywood has.

I would not go that far.

However, he's not a bad actor and he's definitely got charisma.

I'd prefer if he was Black Adam (his turn as a bad guy in Doom was about the only interesting thing in that flick) but I at least think he will be somebody that will respect the material and take the role seriously.

Really the only reservation I have w/him being Captain Marvel is his age. I'd rather the Big Red Cheese be played by somebody in their early 30s rather than their early 40s.

im glad to see Shazam starting to get the respect the character deserves. DC's CCO and main writer, Geoff Johns, is co-writing the script so it should have a solid story behind it.

if he is playing Shazam, do they have Black Adam in the first movie or do they gamble and hope for a sequel? I could see them going with Sivana first, or him being the main focus and Adam coming later.

They'll probably make the kid version 10-13 years old.

Good pick for Shazam. Hopefully he can pull off the character.

I'm not sure if the Rock can pull off Shazam. Can he play a grown superhero with the maturity of a 13-15 (in the new 52 comics, Billy is 15)? He seems to me to be a much better fit for Black Adam. And they'll have to change Billy Baston from a 13-15 year old white kid, to a lid with some ethnic diversity (which I'm ok with if they do it right).

the Rock just seems like a risky choice to try and pull off Shazam.

That's something fairly new. For the first 60 years of the character, Cap was a grown man with the maturity that came with the wisdom of Solomon. Hopefully with the Rock we'll get the Captain Marvel adult.

I think that's pushing it. One of the unique thing about the character is the wonder of a "kid" being a hero. At 15, you start to get that highschool/Spider-Man vibe.

The rock in wwe and his earlier movies all had this great immaturity to his persona. It's only recently that he's gotten more serious. He definitely has the ability to go back to his more immature, carefree persona

See I'm the opposite. Shazam is a painfully dull character, but if anyone can make him interesting, it's probably the Rock.

This is good news to me.

He definitely fits the physique, but he's gonna have to pull some acting out of his arse, IMO. Plus, he's too familiar of a face.

He has. The main reason is because he's a familiar face. We'll see.

The Rock is pretty good for what he is. See Pain and Gain.

That's somewhat of the charm of the Rock though and what he can bring to the character. He has a ton of personality. That can only help when you have to kind of play a big kid.

Captain Marvel's alter ego has always been a child.
