Jon Stewart, Guy Gardner (yes, please), or Kyle Rayner are all GLs of Earth.

Eta: imagine a guy Gardner GL coming in and just knocking RR and that movie the whole time. Comes in with this "I'm clearly better than THAT" mentality. Pretty funny tongue in cheek

Despite saying just two weeks ago that he couldn't decide between playing the titular Shazam or his arch-enemy Black Adam, actor Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter today to announce that he will be playing Black Adam in the upcoming film. No further details are known about the film however, including writer, director, or a release date, but check back here for more on the film as we learn it.

That's super good casting.

Now to get someone who can at least share the screen with him, that's tough.

I would be good with a different GL appearing in each movie.

Many of y'all might disagree but I think Tom Welling might be an ok choice. He has the size at 6'3 and would be cheap enough that you could sign him to a multi pic deal that wasn't too expensive.

I would not be opposed to this.

Ha I was just about to say that Routh wouldn't be a terrible choice, if not for Arrow.

And a young Tom Welling would've made a phenomenal Captain Marvel Jr.

That's actually a pretty darn good choice. I think he can pull off the naivete and idealistic nature that the character will have to have. The problem is would DC have the stones enough to cast a prior tv Clark Kent in a role for their movie universe. It would definitely be a bold choice, but I think it would be one that could payoff for them pretty well.

dude what a suggestion that was. i could definitely get behind that. also, i saw an article naming the writer: Darren Lemke, who is known for Shrek: Forever After and Jack the Giant Slayer. idk how i feel about that. he is also writing the new Goosebumps movie.

LINK

eta: heres a fan pic i found of welling as Shazam

another big suggestion is brandon molale

I was a bit "meh" on the news that he was Shazam, but the Rock as Black Adam is almost perfect casting. Think he's a great choice.

I've only seen Jack the Giant Slayer from the films he has written and as uneven as it was it also wasn't the worst film I've ever seen and I could see a lot of potential in it.

IMO that movie was clearly jerked around by too many different cooks in the kitchen as it really felt like it never knew what it wanted to be.

There were parts that were incredibly kiddie but then all the sudden it would get fairly violent and IMO not family friendly at all. It really felt like they originally wanted to go for a more serious adult take on the fairy tale and got cold feet at the last minute.

Tom has aged a little bit since the picture they used for that fan pic. Here is what he looks like now:

I think he could definitely pull it off. Although the grayed facial hair may be what make him look older in my picture.

I don't know anything about Brandon Molale. Like as has been stated before, it is going to take a certain personality (or at least someone that can pull of that personality) to pull off the acting portion of that character, and I personally don't know anything about Brandon's acting skills or personality.

Shazam Will Not Be A Justice League Character, Film Will Have A Sense Of Humor

quote:

Emmerich said, “It feels to me like Shazam will have a tone unto itself. It’s a DC comic, but it’s not a Justice League character, and it’s not a Marvel comic. The tone and the feeling of the movie will be different from the other range of comic book movies.”

The comments seem to be an indication that Shazam will not exist in the same universe as Batman, Superman, and the rest of the Justice League. The Shazam film sounds like it will be a standalone movie.

Another big rumor that Emmerich seems to have squashed was the report that Warner Bros. had a no jokes policy when it comes to DC Comics movies. Emmerich indicated that the Shazam film “will have a sense of fun and a sense of humor. But the stakes have to be real.”

Why make a universally well liked actor into a villain? I was hoping for Green Lantern for him.
