I think he could definitely pull it off. Although the grayed facial hair may be what make him look older in my picture.

I think he did that to separate himself from Smallville where he was playing 10 years younger than his real age.

The comments seem to be an indication that Shazam will not exist in the same universe as Batman, Superman, and the rest of the Justice League. The Shazam film sounds like it will be a standalone movie.

I hope like hell this isn't the case. They don't have to tie Shazam in with the Justice League right away, but they need to eventually tie him in at some point down the road.

The Rock needs to do more comedies. That's where his talent really is.

The Rock must be a really smart guy, he somehow parlayed a hardcore wrestling persona into a childrens movie star, and now mainstream action star. Dude has some skills

the guy has more charisma than any celebrity i can think of. he has the physique of arnold, minus the thick accent and is a better actor. he is the perfect action star.

Shazam has a director: David F. Sandberg. It's reported that The Rock will be in the film after all (and not just in a Black Adam film).

No, only Marvel has a Captain Marvel. DC lost the rights in 2010 IIRC.

DC never lost any rights to the character name. After Fawcett went out of the comic publishing business, Fawcett didn't maintain the trademark to the Captain Marvel name. Marvel comics took advantage of that and created their own Captain Marvel (they weren't the only ones, other publishers did the same). But Marvel trademarked the name, meaning whoever bought the publishing rights for Fawcett's character wouldn't be able to use Captain Marvel in the actual title of the comics. So after DC bought the Captain Marvel character rights, they used the titles Shazam and Shazam Family but continued to call the characters Capt. Marvel, Mary Marvel, etc.

With Marvel making a big name for themselves in the public eye with Marvel Studios, Fox, and Sony films, and the public already confused about the Fawcett Captain Marvel's name (most folks that were introduced to him through the Shazam TV series referred to him as Shazam), DC decided to finally put the Captain Marvel name aside and to just call the character Shazam.
