I liked the film except the actor that played the son.

I thought should have cast someone younger to play the son.

All the kid did was stand there and acted confused.

Great film, great execution, just that one casting threw off the whole film for me.

It's a really great and powerful film, but enjoyable isnt quite the word I would use for it. I know what you mean but it's a heavy watch.

I'm not much of a reader....has to grab my interest pretty quick

But this is the only book ive ever ready cover to cover without stopping. Literally one evening for several hours. Cried like a small girl child at the end.

Great movie and great production. I remember they switched filming up Louisiana after Katrina for some post-apocalyptic scenery…it turned out fantastic.

I felt that way after watching the 1st season of True Detective. That scenery is something else.

I believe that BM will get made and it will be this director that does it

If it does ever get made, I hope its a 6-8 episode series and not just a 2-2 1/2 hour movie.

Don’t think a movie like that can do it justice.

The Road is very bleak though. Once I finished that book, one of my first thoughts was….”if society ever gets to that point, I’m out

Sadly, I think the book is a very accurate portrayal of how humans would behave after a real apocalyptic event.

This is how I felt about The Road. Beautifully written but at the same time just horrific and heart breaking subject matter.

I feel that was about most of his work.

All the Pretty Horses and Cities of the Plain are next on my list (already read The Crossing not realizing it was book 2 of a loosely related trilogy)

When he finds the cistern in the book. You could practically taste the water they way McCarthy described it. Truly amazing book. Can't recommend it enough.

I enjoyed The Road but thought One Second After was a better read. No movie yet, but has been talked about many times movie wise.

Funny. I've read All the Pretty Horses and Cities of the Plain but not The Crossing, also not realizing they were part of the trilogy.

If he was a baby that was crying all the time, it would be more understandable.

yes! And the apples that had fallen from the tree. And the coke from the vending machine. I think about that stuff all the time and really wish I could write like that

Looks like we'll have to settle for film. Just finished the second book.
