The Rise of Skywalker is essentially Operation Shadow Hand from the EU

In Shadow Hand, Palp returned using a clone body that he possessed and using a secret fleet of loyalist die hards hidden away. He then turned Luke to the dark side and Luke became his apprentice for a while.
Palp then used Force Storms so powerful they could destroy planets and fleets to subjugate his control. Lucas said force storms are the most powerful dark side ability of all time.
JJ has always said he wanted to bring back story elements from the EU he really liked.

There are definitely some nerded out fools on this board. Star Wars has been and will always be the type of movie that most will watch it for what they are and then there will be a group that is so far down the backstory rabbit hole that they will literally get pissed off at ever little thing that doesn't match every book/comic/etc.

Right now I'm playing Pathfinder, Mouseguard, Starfinder, Frostgrave, and CAV, and dabbled with a little Stranger Things DnD5e to introduce people into the hobby.
My dwarf monk in Pathfinder is a Scottish Cotton Hill that's based and looks like a dwarf Jack Burton.
I keeled fiddy orcs! It's all in the reflexes!
Right now I'm playing Pathfinder, Mouseguard, Starfinder, Frostgrave, and CAV, and dabbled with a little Stranger Things DnD5e to introduce people into the hobby.

They may flip the script on these characters. The rise of "Skywalker" could be referring to Ben Skywalker-Solo (Kylo Ren of course) and Rey turns out to be the bad guy in the end.
For those that played Knight of the Old Republic, which may be the greatest RPG ever, your character turns out to be "Darth Revan" who suffered from Amnesia caused by the Jedi and was rehabilitated.

Seriously, if TFA and TLJ were the only movies in the series, would you be at all pumped to see the next one? By seeing it, are you doing your cultural duty?
Huge percentages of entertainment funding come from hostile foreign interest, not to mention the rights to even play movies in their countries. You got two huge middle fingers up your asses, and now you're lining up for a third, and god knows what beyond that.
