There’s 3/4 different theories on where they come from. Tolkien never decided on any of them but in none of them are there female orcs.

We are discussing this tweet posted that states that orcs were male only, which is directly refuted by Tolkien in the Silmarillion and in a letter he wrote which states we only see the males because the Orcs that appear in the books are soldiers

Madking living in his own fantasy world again.

The letter is long, but in one place reads as follows: 'There must have been orc-women. But in stories that seldom if ever see the Orcs except as soldiers of armies in the service of the evil lords we naturally would not learn much about their lives. Not much was known'.

So at best it’s imagined by the reader/viewer but it’s never implied or inferred. This is a problem for Corinthians and other shills since their standard is definitive and irrefutable proof for everything. So he’s wrong as usual

It’s not great but not the worst show ever like some of you make it out to be.
Lotr is literally my favorite movie series as well.

I mean Halbrand runs out on the elves, runs to the orcs to be captured on purpose just to convince him to let him loose so he can go back to the elves…. Why? That’s half an episode to accomplish absolutely nothing. The other half was re-telling us the story they told us last season. Yea I’d call it not great too.

I never finished the first season because it was very boring, but I might eventually binge this show if they ever finish it.
However, I think one of the biggest mistakes they've made is making Halbrand Sauron. He should have been the Witch King, and we could have watched his fall, and it might actually be interesting.

That’s what I was hoping too but these people are too talentless to take on something new.

quote:That isn't contradicted in the show.
. Yes Orcs are descended from elves, but Morgoth long tortured and bred out any remote capabilities of love and compassion that they can have. Orcs and Uruk Hai are merely built for war, and that’s what they like doing. Killing for the sake of killing. They are not capable of genuine kindness or moral decency.
Yeah, Adar turns on Sauron and tries to kill him, which some people seem to have issue with.
Adar is still a ruthless, bloodthirsty dick. He has people massacred for the sake of it, has that guy killed because he didn't bow to him in the space of 3 seconds. The orcs revel in killing. Adar tells Halbrand/Sauron "you'll beg me to kill you" and has him tortured; Adar simply wants the power himself.
They don't fight the Men allied with them, but they didn't in LOTR either, they weren't jumping on Easterlings or Southrons, or the Dunlendings allied with Saruman.
As for the orcs in concept, Tolkien wrote himself into a corner there. They are presented as totally vile and loathsome, suitable only for war and then extermination. Even Sauron probably gets rid of them once he wins, and has dominion over Men.
But- only Eru can create life, that's kinda the whole purpose of Melkor's rebellion. So either the orcs are alive and thus creations of Eru (and thus not totally without purpose), or they're not. There is speculation they are beasts (apes maybe, as they often were described as shorter with long arms), or husks (like wights), inhabited by evil spirits. In either idea, they would need to be animated and controlled by the will of Morgoth/Sauron, otherwise they would revert to beasts etc.
Morgoth maybe had the power to control a lot of automatons (which is why he was diminished maybe), but I don't think Sauron is THAT strong. And I don't think the orcs, if animated by Morgoth, would sustain more than a generation after he was cast out.
So that goes back to them being sentient beings.

But look at the breast support for the new armor. Nothing says modern TV like men wearing stuff designed for women in Tolkien’s world.
