Can’t believe I’m going to say this, even after pooing on the show prior, but I actually enjoyed this episode. The Durin Balrog fight was nice, a Manwë name drop, Adar as he was in the time of Cuiviénen. It may just be the Silmarillion nerd in me wanting this show to be good, but I enjoyed it.

I haven't had a chance to watch it yet, but the show has been gradually improving. It seems like they spent too much time setting the stage in season one. At some point, you can can learn about characters by following them on their adventures. You don't need to give each of them a side quest to learn what they're about.

I enjoyed that finale and this season overall. Big improvement over season 1. Vickers is killing it as Sauron and I’m sad to see Celebrimbor die because their interactions were tied with Bear McCreary’s score for the best part of this season.

I’m surprised to see Arondir survive because his character seems pointless since his girlfriend left the show. really hope we’ve seen the last of the Harfeet and Isildur’s peasant girlfriend.

This season was better than season 1. Do have to say I'm disappointed (but not surprised) it's Gandalf. Hell, they even mention there were 5 Istari, couldn't you go with a different one?
Also disappointed, but not surprised about the Balrog showing up.

I guess for movie-only fans, it's cool. But book fans know, it's way too early for them to show up. And I'm not talking about condensed timelines, I mean neither should appear until after the Last Alliance (the presumed end of the show).

God, I hope that isn't Saruman; or everyone in the White Council is sitting on big secrets and lies.
Saruman elected to be the head; why doesn't Gandalf mention he tried to kill some (very annoying) Halflings? The Dwarves not overly concerned that there's a Balrog in their basement? Hey Galadriel, wanna mention how Sauron got the 9, and for that matter how he came to Mordor?

I do have to say, the Adar addition was ok. I was iffy on that storyline, but I like that they Elf'd him at the end, only for those ungrateful Orcs to turn and kill him.

One thing the show missed bigtime on, even with the approach they're taking: we need more time with Gil-Galad.
Honestly, if they're going to do things this way, then Gil-Galad and Elendil should be the unchallenged main stars of the show (with Sauron), and everyone else, Elrond and Galadriel included, need to be more secondary. We're talking the last High King of the Elves, and the original Dunedain. Those with any knowledge know how they go out, and the show should have been building towards that the whole time.

If Season 3 is truly about the Fall of Númenor, Sauron, Elendil, and Pharazon will get the most screen time

Yeah, I can see that. But I feel like we missed a chance to build up Gil-Galad, Elven King. I've generally liked him onscreen, but he really should have been the primary Elf we've been seeing. He and Elendil are the two that fight Sauron in single (2 vs 1, I guess) combat, per the books.

I can see where PJ screwed things up a bit for that, since in his movie Sauron is still up and swings at Isildur, and happens to hit the sword shard to lose his finger.
Per the book, Sauron takes both Elendil and Gil-Galad out, but he also goes down too. Isildur then uses the sword shard to cut the Ring from his body. Elrond and Isildur are Gil-Galad's and Elendil's seconds, or squires, for that fight.

I'd like to see the show build towards that final fight, if they do it according to lore. The Alliance wins the battle of Dagorlad, lay seige to Barad Dur, and eventually Sauron comes out when challenged to single combat.

Well, that was a pretty lame finale imo.

Like everything with this series, there are some good spot but they are almost always overshadowed big time by the bad.

Annatar and Celebrimbor are the highlights, it would be hard to argue against that being the best part of the show. Legit believable that that is how Celebrimbor was deceived.

The dwarves had been probably the only other thing I was liking about the show but but I wasn't a fan of how that story turned the past two weeks. I already posted about how it was pretty ridiculous and unbelievable for the dwarves to turn on their king so easily so I wont repeat that but even worse is having the Balrog fully show up this early in time. Durin's death was completely useless and looked like the end of the movie Reign of Fire. He was not mortally wounded and his death did absolutely nothing to help. He had no chance of killing the Balrog so he just essentially commits suicide. But o well, they had to get him out of the story I guess. But now Durin and presumably the entire mountain of Dwarves knows there is a Balrog 100 feet from them at all times and they are just going to live there and keep on digging for centuries? Makes absolutely no sense. I seriously hate it

"Thank you Grand Elf". That's not what his name means but whatever, I just kind of rolled my eyes. This show is not subtle. A lot of really dumb stuff has happened but if the dark wizard ends up being Saruman that might be the worst. That would be one even if someone had just watched the movies, even they'd be like "Wait, this doesn't make sense, this guy is clearly bad, Gandalf isn't supposed to figure out he's bad until much later on". Again, makes absolutely no sense. But we don't know if that's the case so I'm not going to fully hate on them for that until that is confirmed. His staff is different from LOTR's Saruman's staff so maybe it's not him. Also, I've always liked that actor, but my God he is terrible in this.

What exactly has to happen to Galadriel for her to actually die. A stabbing in the heart and gut then falling off a 200ft mountain doesn't do it? I mean I feel like I was taking crazy pills and was the only one that watched her commit suicide only to then just pretend she never jumped off a cliff to land on hard ground. I guess the only way she can be killed is maybe have her head decapitated, that might do it. Maybe.

Just a frustrating show for me. I like seeing Tolkien on screen, I just don't like fan fiction Tolkien.

It’s worse than season 8 of GoT, it’s worse than Disney Star Wars..

It’s just terrible fantasy, take Tolkien out of the equation.

RoP is even worse fantasy than Rebel Moon is sci-fi.

I thought you didn’t watch the show?

If it’s as bad as you say it is and is a bastardization of Tolkien’s work, why continue to watch it? Because you’re some holier than thou incel who has to scream and belittle anyone who might enjoy it? fricking pathetic

Season 2 was a big improvement over Season 1 from my perspective.
I’ll be happy if I never see another Harfoot again in this show. Definitely didn’t want the wizard to be Gandalf, but they alluded to it constantly, so it wasn’t a surprise.
Most scenes with Annatar/Sauron this season were excellent.
Obviously there’s a myriad of lore issues. But overall, it’s enjoyable to be back in Middle Earth.
If Season 3 is the fall of Numenor, that could be pretty good.
