I'm sure most will tell you it was improved.
It doesn't try to have too many things going at once, and I think that makes its storytelling more efficient. I'm guessing some of the characters were paid any mind just to get them to where they need to be for next season.

avent started S2 yet, can someone save me time and just say how it compares to S1 and worth watching?

Good. That storyline needs to get more interesting very quickly because idk how interesting the show will be without Sauron (Annatar)
Sauron will be heavily involved with that story.
People have complained about Númenor story being boring thus far but they’ve actually set a really good foundation to tell this story in Season 3

Theres plenty of people in this thread alone who know the lore and and still enjoy the show. Don’t be a retard.
I’ve read nearly every work published multiple times and I’ve consistently said that there are some things done very well and some things that are done really bad.
It’s far from perfect but there’s enough done well that I keep watching every week.

I was completely indifferent to the changes to the story, the cast, the costumes, etc.
What made me hate the first season was the ridiculously awful writing... lack of character development, insanely stupid characters that constantly contradicted themselves, mystery box storytelling, etc.
If you took no issue with the absurd stupidity of the writing from season 1, season 2 is going to be just fine. It's not an improvement by any stretch of the imagination.

Season 2 has been better than season 1, without question.

There are still some really bad parts of this show and it's been so far off the lore from the beginning that I don't even consider this Tolkien. But it 100% has been better than season one and it's really not even close. If this show was named something else and didn't claim to be Lord of the Rings, I'd probably enjoy it. It doesn't live up to the budget, but it's a decent fantasy show if you're someone that isn't bothered by the lore deviation.

Has it?
Orcs fighting in broad daylight at Eregion.
Orcs taking 4 episodes to get to Eregion while Elves and Dwarfs make multiple trips from Eregion to Khazad Dum.
Tom and the stranger having a Yoda/ Luke Skywalker moment.
Galadriel using the ring to just heal an Elf with no explanation how except "the ring".
Mountain singing calling bats to protect a wall from Dwarfs with a battering ram.
There is tons of evidence of "what the frick are we doing?".

Yes, it has. As the guy posted, if the off-lore stuff doesn’t bother you, which is most of what you posted, it’s a solid enough season. If you did want it to be more lore accurate I can see why you wouldn’t like it as much and I wouldn’t blame you.
For me, I’ve liked season 2 more and I think that has to do with the fact that the plot this season was actually driven by the titular subject matter. Off lore or otherwise, I disliked season 1 because it was just so fricking boring (especially the Harfoots) and had nothing to do with the rings until the very end.

It could be a Disney princess movie and the stuff I posted is dumb as frick. It makes no sense. It has nothing to do with Lore.
Is the writing standard for this show so low, that if the plot makes sense at all we call it "good?".

All of that was dumb. And I could add quite a bit more to that list. But I could make a list of probably 100 things that were even dumber from season 1.

I legit want this show to be good. I want to look forward to watching it every week. I'm fine with them bending lore for a good product. But the writing is just shallow and predictable. They don't even try to put effort into making sure things make sense. Even little things.
For example, I have been watching Expanse for the first time the last few weeks and I legit am addicted. I had to stop watching that to watch the last episode of RoP. It wasn't even close on which was the better show.

The Expanse is on a different level. A show that started on the Syfy Network and then picked up by Amazon had no reason to be as good as it was.

Overall Season 2 much better than Season 1
Looks like they might be dropping the Harfoots, which is good
Disappointed that the Stranger is Gandalf. I do think they will bring the blue wizards in since their story is in Rhún as of now.
Fantastic end to Season 2 with the Dwarf storyline
I didn’t really like Adar but like how they ended his story
Númenor setting up for a good season 3
I didn’t love the fight at the end. That being said, it’s become clear to me they absolutely nailed the Sauron casting. Charlie Vickers has done a great job.
That final scene at Imladris was stupid

For some reason I thought it came out on Thursday. Plan on watching it tonight, don't really have my hopes up for much. I would assume last weeks episode was the one they thought would be the big episode for the season and it was pretty meh.
Not seeing the finale, this season was definitely better than S1, but I still found it very hard to complement the show on anything other than Annatar/Celebrimbor and the dwarves. And event he dwarves started to drop in quality in terms of the story.

Indeed. The dwarves were one of the stronger parts of the season. I will say I’m disappointed in they way just appeared on the battlefield with crossbows. I was really hoping to see them charge down some hill and boulder over some orcs.
I know Durin is supposed to be super honorable, but I question the logic of still sending your army out after you just discovered a fricking balrog is sitting under your feet.

That anyone defended this show after the water detonated cheetoh volcano didn't kill anyone just tells me those defenders are VERY EASILY amused; definitely Big Bang Theory fans.
This show is mst3k worthy. That's it.
Boring
Fast travel
Ridiculous diversity
Size and scale issues abound
Memory berries galore
Harlots
Galadrrrrrrriel the girl boss
The sea is always right
100% pure swamp arse.
