I saw it in theatre on opening night, then went back a few weeks later to watch it again. I am a book reader, so had that advantage but absolutely loved 95% of the adaptation. Its been said by numerous posters other than myself, but they could have cut out so much Zendaya dream stuff and added more exposition. It was obvious she had a certain amount of guaranteed screen time though.

Watched it with the wife at home and she loved it. Thought it was amazingly beautiful. She had to asked questions here and there but is very curious to see the story play out.

I guess you never watched Lord of the Rings?

Uhm...this doesn't help your argument. Each LOTR movie had a clear beginning, rising action, climax, and falling action. While they each only told part of a story, they were each self-contained arcs within their own movies.

Fellowship just ends. It leaves you hanging in the same way Dune did.

No it doesn't. It ends with the breakup of the Fellowship. It concludes Boromir's arc.

I thought this scene was really weird:

saying its "going to happen" is a long way from a firm date to start filming it. also, "going to happen" could end up being in 2023 or even 2030, or never mind, sorry but we decided we are not doing it at all no

im not watching a movie in 2022 just to see the beginning, then wait until 2025 to see part 2 of the same unfinished movie, just to see the middle of the story, then wait until 2027 to finally see the end of the movie.

So just ignore when I said...

Well just a few days ago DV said they will start production by the end of the summer and they've kept the Oct. 20th 2023 release date.

Also, i'm starting to think you havent even seen the movie. Its two parts. It has always been planned to be two parts. Where are you getting this trilogy or 5 part mini series length crap?

This new version of Dune is so much better than the 1980's version. Visually stunning, true to the story, pretty damn good.

I'll take the original and leave it as is

I will take the Scifi miniseries over the original movie all day every day.

How old are you?

Are you a sci-fi guy?

Did you read the book?

I'm not sure if this will tell the story

I'm in my 30s, hate sci-fi, never read the book and I loved it

I suspect any slow-burn, brooding film fans will like it regardless of the book/sci-fi.

To make it weird, if you like The Leftovers and Dunkirk, I bet you like Dune

Unintentional humor for sure. Like most scenes with Sting.

What makes you say that? The Leftovers is possibly my favorite show of all time. It's weird, for sure, but I'm not making any other connections
