I can’t do hospital shows because I can’t handle blood but I got roped into this last episode by my fiance’ and holy shite what a ride. Great show

They simply show it, more in an "in passing" way, not focusing on it, not using it as a platform. It simply... exists. And then is gone. If that makes sense. Much better than some preachy, beat you over the head and force you to accept it BS.
Nah it’s definitely preachy, it’s literally every episode lol. Some hot button issue, and it all takes place in one shift lol. They spent an episode and a half on a doctor trying to convince a girls mother to let her get an abortion lmao. And I’m a fan of the show but come on

An episode and a half is 90 minutes- real time AND show time.

I imagine something like that happens from time to time in emergency rooms in major US cities. I’ve seen preachy and over the top virtual signaling and that wasn’t it.

Actually, a well written and directed procedural with a fresh twist would be welcome. Denmark, Norway and Sweden have produced some good series.

It's a great show, hopefully the lawsuit from Michael Crichton's estate doesn't delay filming for S2 (it was originally supposed to be a sequel to ER with Wyle reprising his Dr Carter role).

If I had to work a shift like this all week I'd be poppin' Xanax like candy after a few days

After seeing this show.... the folks running Crichton's estate must be absolutely nuts. Why wouldn't they sign off on this? Simply wanted more money?

Finally got around to watching it.
The medicine is really good. As with any tv show, there is over the top drama, but it is at least balanced by good medicine.

I heard they wanted a "Created by Michael Crichton" credit which then meant royalties paid to his estate. His wife likely got greedy and the show pivoted and said kick rocks.
And what we got was a great show and I just pretend it's an ER spinoff.

Any chance the shooter is NOT the woman's son with the hit list?
Langdon shows up to help save the day.
Javadi: Read the fricking room mom!
The old guy with the head wound. it's cool, I'm alright. Paraphrasing. What has happened to this country?
Have no idea how these things actually work but, the preparation seemed pretty impressive. Having Robby and Abbot there probably avoided a lot of confusion.

I don’t think this show is that deep and I don’t really care if it’s predictable

He's the shooter. Got kicked out of the ER, creates a mass shooting situation knowing the victims would go to Pittsburgh Trauma, shows up to help save the day, ends up not getting fired.

Now, that would be a helluva twist!

I'd forgotten how Clooney's character was such a bobbleheaded douche, how cartoony this serious show could be, and how great Carter was as a character.
And Dr. Robbie is 100% the matured John Carter.

why are all the shooting victims being sent to the Pitt? Wouldn't 't they send some to other hospitals? And is this scenario modeled after the Vegas shooting? Cause it seems like they have a lot of victims.

a lot seems to be taken from Vegas. That article i linked on the last page is good read, had to have been an insane night.
quote:
In the end, we officially had 215 penetrating gunshot wounds, but the actual number is much higher. As I would circle the ER “looking for blood,” I would hear the green tags say, “You know what? I’m not that bad—I’ll be fine.” Over time, they would walk out without getting registered. Our true number was well over 250.
The surgery team performed an unprecedented feat that night. The numbers speak for themselves. In six hours, they did 28 damage control surgeries and 67 surgeries in the first 24 hours. We had dispositioned almost all 215 patients by about 5 o’clock in the morning, just a little more than seven hours after the ordeal began. That’s about 30 GSWs per hour. I couldn’t believe that we saved that many people in that short amount of time. It’s a testament to how amazingly well the hospital team worked together that night. We did everything we could.

It's probably not every one of them, but in Robby's pregame speech he mention that they were the closest trauma center to the event

As big and dangerous as the ATL is, the ONLY level 1 trauma center is Grady. You get shot, that's where you want to go. Didn't Robby say they were the closest level 1?

Yes. Plus it wouldn't be as good TV if only one or two victims showed up.
