Deadline is projecting $200+ mil opening weekend. If correct, that's a very good international number since the big Asian markets open later.

“We had a really robust debate,” says Joel P. Christensen, editor of “The Oxford Critical Guide to Homer’s Odyssey.” Christensen was accompanied by retired Homer scholars (often referred to as Homerists), editors, professors, historians and various public intellectuals. “And my wife is a dentist,” he adds, “so she was the red herring in the crowd.”
The conversation ranged from Nolan’s decision to make Polyphemus (the Cyclops that Matt Damon’s Odysseus stabs in the eye) nonverbal to the film’s depiction of language itself. Each intellectual was fervently dedicated to a different academic discipline, yet Homer’s “The Odyssey” is one of the few works that transcends any single field of literature or history.
“I was surprised by how many academics liked it,” Christensen says. “I had to be restrained a few times by my wife. Everybody knows that I’m the worst audience for the film.” After a long pause, he continues, “I’ve been saying to myself: ‘This is not Homer’s “Odyssey.” This is Nolan’s “Odyssey.” And it needs to be judged on different terms.’”

Doesn’t show a lot we haven’t seen which is ideal. Got tickets to see it in 70mm IMAX at 7:30am a few days after the premiere so my countdown is a little longer.

Why can't he make it colorful like the old Jason and the Argonauts?

Yes, but why do you answer a question with a question?
I googled. In addition to his artistic taste, he's also red-green color blind.

And his editing notoriously sucks

Does it though? His editors are Lee Smith (pre-Dunkirk) and Jennifer Lame (Tenet to Odyssey) and they each won an Oscar for Editing Dunkirk and Oppenheimer.

The way they edit sound can be annoying and you miss dialogue, but I love his editing otherwise.

"My dad is coming home"
There it is again. I keep hoping it'll get edited out
Also, Ann Hathaway's cry face always looks weird to me.

To which Pattinson replies using the term "daddy"
That and black Helen of Troy and Ellen Page as a man soldier character at 2:11.
Hard pass.

I actually think she's a beautiful, albeit unique looking, person and a good actress.
My problem is she isn't Helen of Troy. The fair skinned, fair haired, white armed woman that wars raged over.
I have decided to try to look past this, as she shouldn't have huge screen time in this story. I do not think I can get past "dad" and "daddy"

It's Nolan. He doesn't know what a hot chick is, apparently.
