Really surprising to see her come out so strongly against Nolan's adaptation. It's not like her translation was the definitive version of the Odyssey or anything.

Holland, Hathaway, Damon all felt just a little forced. I think Pattinson was decent.

I keep seeing people criticize holland but I thought he was the right Babyface for that role

Damon was Damon. I thought it was a good performance but I didn't think it was anything special. Probably wouldn't put it in his top 5 acting performances.

Now anne Hathaway was AWFUL. It was distracting how over the top her acting was compared to everyone else

Well the 97% is the percentage of users who rated it 3.5 or higher so
tell that to TLJ

I posted several examples back then of 2/4 and even 2/5 ratings being classified as fresh.

Was so irritated I have never done another deep dive

But in t theory you are correct.

Are you sure you’re not talking about critics scores, where a critic can select fresh for a mixed review? For the verified audience score, which is at 97% (and 93% for all reviews) it’s just those that are rated as 3.5 out of 5 or higher.

Is that like the dislikes on YouTube? How's that working out?

it's always funny when someone posts those numbers

the way that number is calculated is by taking the number of people with the browser extension that dislike a video and multiplying it across the number of views the video has.

it's pretty damn obvious people that download a browser addon that allows them to dislike videos will dislike things at a higher rate than the general population youtube users.

Out of the main cast him and Pattinson were probably my favorite. Don’t really get the Holland hate either, I thought he fit the role very well.

She was probably my least favorite of the main cast but we seems to be in the minority there. Most people seemed to really like her.

She said "There are no sex scenes, and all the food looks horrible.”

Food looked pretty good in that pig scene!

Just saw it.

Movie’s excellent. Lot of talk will be about the cyclops, the pig scene and Odysseus’ return at the end, but for me the best executed scene was the storm after they left the sun god’s island.

That’s the best attempt I’ve seen on film at making the audience feel the horror of being at sea on an old wooden ship during a terrible storm. One of the times I found Nolan’s love of crazy audio really effective.

Just got out…

It was underwhelming. It wasn’t bad, and there were definitely a lot of scenes that individually were executed flawlessly, but the praise being heaped on this film is over the top.

I really like Nolan’s previous work, and this had memorable scenes, but it’s not something I will ever bother watching again.

The Odyssey needs to make 1.36 Billion to break even.

The best part of this is that he was pretty close to correct when he posted about it a month ago when he thought it would only make $500 million. But the idea that a movie with a $250 production budget and $100-$125 marketing budget (which isn’t really an apples to apples comparison and big films have higher ROIs for other films, because more people see those previews) has to make $1.36 billion to break even is just silly. But quickly watching the video, he has to inflate the budget, deflate the box office returns (says they only get 20% in Asia, even though China is the only place that has a low rate for studios and that’s 25%; this also ignores studios get a higher take early on and bigger films usually get a higher take). But by far the biggest issue is that he applies Nolan’s 20% net revenue take from the studio and applies it to the gross revenue.

At 650M after only 2 weeks and an audience drop off only 25%, and Imax theaters still sold out at 2 am showings at $25/ticket for another 2-3 weeks, it looks more like will the film break $1.5b now or more.

Outside of Spider-man, theres nothing else on the horizon to knock it out of at least 2nd for weeks.

Yep.

The chuds have failed to make a dent in its box office revenue, despite their deliberate review bombing. I really hate that a number of YouTube personalities who I admire for their opinions deliberately went out of their way to lambast this movie simply because they didn't like a few casting choices. I will admit I was very wary of this film in the build up to its release, and wasn't even sure I was going to go see it until the day before, due to the cast and other things I had heard about the film.

That all being said, I went into the film with an open mind and ended up really liking it.
