I don’t believe for a second that Ezra wouldn’t be flying around with Zeb.

Ezra and Zeb have been separated for years with Ezra literally in a different galaxy thanks to the space whales. I imagine this Mando adventure is happening roughly contemporaneously with the events near the end of Season 1 of Ahsoka. So, Thrawn, Ezra, Sabine, and Ahsoka are all indisposed and unable to be interacted with by Mando or Zeb.

Ahsoka started immediately after her appearance in Mandalorian season 2. Baylen and Shin rescue Morgan from Republic custody after Ahsoka handed her over from their fight in Mando. I don’t think much time passed during the events of Ahsoka. Considering Grogu went to train with Luke and the events of the Mando third season, Ezra should be back for a while now. Plenty of reasons why he would be busy. Just would’ve been cool to see him.

Pick on me all you want, I don’t care.

And the middle finger is to the weirdos here that hate movies they haven’t seen because a YouTuber told them. Thought that was fairly obvious.

You mean the people who haven’t commented on the movie? Big W for you I guess.

This Mando and Grogu movie was a great time

So a variation on “it was a lot of fun”.

I'm not going to get into the bickering, as I haven't seen it yet. I was waiting on word of mouth, which does seem pretty good.

One thing I hope Disney takes into account, and adjusts for: there's lots of comments about "forced cuteness". I've seen a couple people refer to this as a children's movie.

Per a Variety article,
quote:

Opening weekend ticket buyers were 63% male while 75% were above the age of 25. Jon Favreau directed the film, which earned an “A-” grade on CinemaScore exit polls

Maybe it's time Star Wars accepted that it's not a kid's franchise, but an action franchise. Ease back on the "cute" stuff.

Movie math has always been like this. Budget + Marketing x 2 is what is needed to break even. X 2 is for the theaters to get their cut.

For big summer blockbusters P&A is usually 100 to 125% of the production budget. The trades are reporting that Disney spent $175 million on P&A for this one.

Disney probably has close to 350 million in this thing all told. They did get approved for 22 million in California tax credits. They typically net that against production.

If a father of 3 buys 4 tickets then 100% of the ticket buyers were over 25.

Im not sure we get a lot of info from that stat

I remember the backlash they received when they released the scene of Grogu pressing the buttons, and lo and behold with the context of the movie that scene was fine, dare I say good. Just another example of why opinions should be formed when you actually see the movie. Same thing happened with Superman, though I don’t recall the scene

Technically true (buyers are adult), but you should see 1 adult and 3 child tickets.

Wording is funny, and I don't think necessarily accurate. I browsed a couple articles and they seem to like to use random words and terminology... I'd like to see someone specify how many tickets for child vs adult are sold.

If you watch the Heir to The Empire mini movies on YouTube Ezra is with Thrawn who is going to see Joruus C aboth meanwhile Cal and Nighsister Merrin are training with Luke on Dantooine.

I tried linking them but this board is so anti any hint of AI even when it tells a better story than we get with Disney.

Yeah, I am so tired of fricking Grogu

Kids really don't GAF about Grogu

Just wine moms and cat ladies, best I can tell

Need less cute and romance, more cool and badass

I don't think there is any doubt that Star Wars skews largely older and overwhelmingly male

I would wager they have much more than $350 million.

3 different SW podcasts I had on this week were saying this will need to hit $500 million to break even.

I asked AI for the estimated promo budget:

quote:

how much has disney spent on ads and propmos for Mandalorian and grogu

quote:

Key details regarding the marketing spend include:

Confirmed Estimates: Industry reports, including those from The Hollywood Reporter, cite a baseline marketing cost of at least $100 million.

Higher Projections: Some financial analysts and industry breakdowns suggest the total Print & Advertising (P&A) spend could reach up to $150 million when accounting for the film's massive franchise scale.

Major Campaigns: Significant expenses were incurred for high-profile placements, including a $8–10 million Super Bowl commercial, extensive theme park integrations at Disney’s Galaxy’s Edge, and cross-promotional partnerships with brands like Burger King and Fortnite.

Total Investment: When combined with the film’s production budget of approximately $165 million, the total investment required for the film to break even is estimated between $400 million and $600 million globally.
