Yeah, but the potential to screw him up is very high. Best just to leave it be than risk giving him the Rings of Power treatment.

This is such an odd statement to me. Seems like it was just yesterday. I don't think I would use that phrase unless we were talking 50s/60s.

but I'll never forget the part at the end where one girl quite genuinely surprised, shouted out as the credits started rolling "no way!".

We saw it opening weekend. When credits rolled, a guy a row ahead of us shouted "What the frick?!?" Everyone in the theater laughed.

He turned to his wife/girlfriend and said "I have to wait for the next movie to see what happens?"

You’re drunk.
Star Wars
Indiana Jones
Then Lord of the Rings

Alien 1-3 is up there too.
Naked Gun 1-33 1/3 also gets a nod.

Star Wars: Return of the Jedi sucked.
Indiana Jones: Temple of Doom and Last Crusade were not that good and nothing close to Raiders.

No way. That’s a hipster opinion. Relative to Empire, I guess it’s lesser. But it BY NO MEANS sucks.

Here’s a hipster opinion of my own though.
Temple of Doom is the best Indy movie. I’ll die on that hill.

My favorite movies of all time. And absolutely a Christmas movie(s)

I’ve been watching all three movies on Paramount over the past few weeks they’ve been on.

They have held up pretty damn well. The scenary is still incredible to see. I miss this time in the early 2000’s when this was the hot thing.

It may be the greatest trilogy of all time. The score is incredible. Not quite as iconic and memorable as the Star Wars themes...but it's damn close. Each kingdom/race has its own theme, the fellowship theme is awesome.

Notice how good the practical effects look compared to some of the CGI in the Hobbit movies.

It's a simple tale of pure good vs pure evil...so maybe not quite as "adult" as Game of Thrones at its best in that regard.

But I've bought the damn thing in three formats now (DVD then Blu Ray now 4k).

Stephen Spielberg regrets Temple of Doom.

And I agree with him.

There are 2 good Indy Movies: Raiders and The Last Crusade.

The rest I do not acknowledge.

I saw TOD in the theater, and then once time since. It was decent, but definitely third with Raiders and Last Crusade 1 and 1(a) [and I can't fault anyone that puts either of those first].

Last Crusade was a perfect ending to to Indy storyline.

It’s not the best, but it’s my favorite. I watched it all the time as a kid.

Also, as I’ve discussed many times before, I’ll die arguing that Alien 3 is arguably the second best of the entire franchise.

The small parts he left out make sense (Tom Bombadil for instance)

I agree with this but leaving out The Scouring of the Shire makes zero sense. That was an awesome part of the book and showed you how much all 4 hobbits had grown since they had last stepped foot in The Shire

Truth, I also skip over every chapter that is just them in the books too. I have no interest in those three.

Favorite film(s) of all time. View as one very long movie, not as a trilogy.
