Lets ruin the series with woke representation (modern audiences)

frick off

Didn't they do that with the recent Amazon series?

No, it wasn't even really woke; it was "fan" fiction (but didn't draw from the fan base).
Production values were incredible for a series; but it was no more Tolkien in the end, than Eragon was (which also had elves and dwarves).

And I agree with him.

There are 2 good Indy Movies: Raiders and The Last Crusade.
It's terrible and you're right.

You’re drunk. Star Wars Indiana Jones Then Lord of the Rings Alien 1-3 is up there too. Naked Gun 1-33 1/3 also gets a nod.

Nope. Not even close. Try again.

Please. He “regrets” it because you have to in present day Hollywood. Can’t have a white guy save a group of brown people from some other brown bad guys.

I’ve learned something in this thread.
You LOTR guys are weird. Nobody in this thread agrees with me because it’s filled with you guys. Star Wars (including Jedi) is objectively the greatest trilogy of all time.

And I love the LOTR trilogy.

Suck on this, nerds.

Just dudes walking.

If you watch the extended versions and fast forward every scene that’s just Frodo, Sam and Gollem, it’s an elite viewing experience

This is the straight up truth right here. Almost every single one of those scenes was horrible.

No way. That’s a hipster opinion. Relative to Empire, I guess it’s lesser. But it BY NO MEANS sucks.

Here’s a hipster opinion of my own though.
Temple of Doom is the best Indy movie. I’ll die on that hill.

Then die you shall.

The biggest problem I think folks had with that movie was that the subject matter was completely unrelatable.

Why would an American audience give a shite about a movie centered around Indian Occult and mysticism?

There's a reason one and three were homeruns.

That’s kinda the point of those movies. Fantastical tales in exotic settings.

I get that people disagree with me on this take, but I can’t go for that reasoning.

It’s probably my favorite because it feels like if The Goonies and Big Trouble in Little China had a baby. It’s fast-paced and fun from beginning to end. Willie sucks. I’d rather bang Elsa. But she has her purpose as the representative for the audience who’s never seen anything like this before.

I love all of its “problematic” points: the fact that apparently all Indians are mystical, the racist dinner, the stereotypical Chinese orphan, the white savior.

These are the reasons Señior Spielbergo says he regrets it. Had the woke movement not happened, I doubt he’d say that.

Can we make legolas gay and Gandalf a Tranny? That would make it thoroughly modern right?

Saw it in September with my boys as they brought the extended versions back to the big screen for Flaskback Cinema. It was great for them to see it on the big screen. One episode a week.

Yeah, but the potential to screw him up is very high. Best just to leave it be

It was absolutely the right call to leave him out. If he’s in, half the audience would’ve left saying “why didn’t they just give the ring to Tom or have Tom destroy Sauron”

I mean half the audience already questions why they didn’t just fly the eagles to Mount Doom.
