Actually Amazon has stated it is not and legally they can not use it as a reference.
For better or worse this is what makes what they are doing so much more difficult than what Peter Jackson did. With LOTR he had an incredibly dense story with tons of backstory available to him beyond LOTR so when he approached motivation it was more or less spelled out. Anyone that came into this expecting to see things like the Kinslaying and Oath of Feanor just wasn't paying attention, we have gotten some sideways references but they were never going to play out on screen like we might have wanted. Also consider Amazon is planning something like 50 hours of run time and depending on which version you use LOTR run time is in the 10 hour range give or take.
There have been some hokey and questionable choices here and there but people are telling a NEW story around a framework of characters. I am honestly intrigued by multiple story lines and enjoying seeing someone else's vision of the thus far unseen parts of the world. None of them are what I have seen in my mind since I was a kid but I assume there was a different vision of Numenor in the mind of everyone who has read Tolkien like every other place and being.

It feels more of a new version not story as just reinventing the wheel.

The lack of material with so much time during the period gives them so much flexibility to create some great story that is incredible. Truth be told they have more freedom than Jackson did as he was bound because the material existed.
What has been great about Tolkien writing for me is as a fan I know the outcome in the end but what makes it great is the adventure of getting there and getting to know in depth the characters as we go.
Even this show I know what should be the overall plot and ending based on the name of the show but so far the adventure has been clunky and not yet been able to connect with the characters. That is what is missing for me.

Lots of Tolkien fans compare themselves to Denethor.

Through 3 episodes this doesn’t feel like anything any lotr fans will be itching to go back and re watch so far.

That's just pathetic, OML. There weren't two characters that Peter Jackson messed up more than Denethor and Faramir. Faramir is actually my favorite character in LOTR, and Jackson absolutely wrecked him and ruined him.
But, somehow, I was still able to enjoy the movie. You should try actually watching the show; it's getting really good, and I feel really sorry for you, because you are missing out on something that you would enjoy, if only you hadn't convinced yourself that you would hate it.

It’s a fricking meme, dude. There are plenty of memes where the subject of them are shitty people. Sweet Christ, and you clowns get onto me for being too literal.

Stop with the fricking lies. Your own screen name is a blatant lie and should be changed to DNC Tiger. This is getting railed by anyone who isn’t an SJW.
And again, the show is abbreviating 1900 years of the Second Age into the course of a single generation or less, which alone is bigger than all of Jackson’s changes combined in both trilogies. So no, the series concept itself is blasphemous to Tolkien’s writings, so not giving it a shot. And nor should I when any remote criticism you are slandered as a white supremacist. frick these people.

Just got done with the episode. They really need to pick up the pace or they are going to lose me. I’m all for world building but does anyone else feel like there are a good bit of pointless scenes that go nowhere? I’m hoping the ending of this episode means they are about to pick up the pace. I’m assuming that’s Sauron? Also that warg CGI

Liken I said, fits you perfectly.

Pretty sure that it's not Sauron, though viewers are meant to think so. I think that Adar is one of the elves that Morgoth corrupted in the beginning.

So if I post this meme it means I’m a mass murderer or support it?

Probably just means you’re an a-hole.
I bet you’ve dressed as the Joker for Halloween. You seem the type.

While I haven’t done so, I don’t see why that’s an insult. I guess I dressed up as Batman when I was five, but that’s as close as I’ve gotten to that.

This show looks good but is incredibly average so far. It's cool Adar is Benjen.

We can all agree if we would have just killed all the white woke liberals like we should have done decades ago this wouldn’t have happened and we wouldnt be in a terrible economy and have inflation.

I think we have a couple more episodes of building, and things are already in motion.
You still have to address the Silvan Elves, and how they relate to others. I think that's going to surprise a few folks, although it shouldn't; we know they don't care one bit for Dwarves, and not much love for the Noldor, or Men either.
I think what people tend not to follow much, is this: as late as LOTR, these factions were pretty much at odds with each other. Never trust an Elf, etc. It took a desperate war against basically the most vile Evil that exists, to get them to play nice together.
This show is set before that war, or the war that preceded it, and following the war that most thought eliminated the true Evil... so these guys aren't going to be allies.
