Please limit discussion in this thread to discussion through the first three episodes of the show itself after you have viewed them.

Y'all try to keep it halfway civil so folks can discuss what they're watching (good or bad). Also, try to avoid book content spoilers for future content just out of courtesy.

The spoilers were wrong. Also, last fight scene was badass.

Though, for that to truly be apt OML would have to actually get off the internet at some point and go out and insufferably interact IRL occasionally, which I don't think he plans to do until he's successfully made every LOTR thread as miserable as he is....

He has a bad valve.

We’ve been openly talking about it for months at this point. I’m not going to reveal any spoilers I know that are in the show but not the books, and it’s difficult to talk about the show without the context of the books.

Edited. Didn’t realize we didn’t know it dropped yesterday.

Why don’t you just start your own thread for people that are obsessed with the show but refuse to watch it?

It's pretty simple. You can talk about content related to what has been shown already. It's really not that complicated.

If you want to talk about book content beyond what has been shown on the show, there are multiple threads already there for that. I don't think I need to link them because I'm pretty sure you've been in all of them.

Well, Numenor looked amazing. Interesting to see the Mordor “plan” revealed as well as the work.

Isildur’s sister is a smokeshow. Harfoots still not interesting, or maybe I just zone out when they’re on.

The shot of Sauron at the end was cool. Arondir has the most interesting story. Only disappointed we didn’t get any Elrond.

Did you already watch the episode?

That was my biggest takeaway. Wow.

I'm intrigued by all the storylines other than the Harfoots (Harfeet?). I just don't care enough about the dad to give a damn if he gets left behind.

Has that information been seen in film or tv yet?

It was in multiple video games directly tied to the films, so I'd say the answer is yes.

It is certainly a fact most people who know anything about Lord of the Rings would know.

Looks like Episode 3 is already available. Amazon loves to drop shite a little early.

So then it hasn't been on the show yet. If it hasn't been on the show yet, then just fricking drop it and discuss it elsewhere.

This isn't hard.

What’s Amazon doing dropping episodes on Friday?

I guess They care more about people watching it all weekend than big drop day numbers but still.

So... show-related stuff.

What's in the box with the Dwarves? I wanted to discuss that last episode;
it appeared to glow when they opened it. Jewels, such as the Arkenstone and Silmarils do that.
I didn't envision mithril actually glowing, but perhaps I am wrong... the mithril alloy used to make the Doors of Moria light up with moonlight or starlight. Maybe pure mithril does with any light.

Bilbo's/Frodo's armor doesn't, but we could be talking a different alloy.

Today's episode is the introduction of Numenor (hopefully, I hope we don't stay on the ship all show). I'm curious how much deeper we go into the show's lore with that.
In the first thread, I commented on how things seem simple, but remember that 90% of viewers are basically Samwise ("Look, Mr Frodo! Elves!" clap-clap-clap).
I think they are going to paint broad strokes of the tale first, and then color it in over the course of the show.
A massive, comprehensive prologue would be neat for the deep nerds, but I think overwhelming for the casual fan; too much info at one time to keep straight.

They do this pretty frequently. They'll say it's officially dropping X day/time but then release it a few hours before.

I mean I get it. Given how far away from the source material this show is, it's very possible he won't be forging the rings.

Numenor looked incredible. These orcs are some cruel and nasty bastards.
