I've enjoyed it so far. If you're expecting it to be like Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy you'll be disappointed.

e period we just have no idea what he was doing. So he could very well fit into the time period and it would contradict lore unless you mean him dropping from the sky as if it was the first time he appeared.
He’s certainly around. And I have no problem with someone running into Tom. That could be entertaining.
But this man fell from the sky at the very moment that evil was awakened. There is a clear connection there. And first I thought that meant he was himself evil, whether Sauron or some other entity. But it makes sense for him to be the Valar’s direct response to evil awakening.
Either way, Tom just is, and wasn’t sent from the sky in the second age to fight evil. He is off somewhere singing and planting and dancing and doing Tom Bombadil things.

There really isn’t one but the people who actually watch it seem to enjoy it.

Which is funny as hell because some of the rating services are owned by Amazon!
Imagine that

I'm enjoying it a lot, even if certain scenes annoy me a little (like Galadriel standing forever on the ship as it's about to go into Valinor, or the slo-mo of her riding the horse).
I think that everyone agrees that it's visually beautiful. For example, I think everyone's mouth dropped open this week at the depiction of Numenor.
There are lots of little hidden Tolkien nuggets, if you know where to look for them. For example, even though certain posters here hated the prologue, it's a actually a very clever recapitulation of Galadriel's backstory, with the two redheaded boys destroying her swan-shaped paper ship representing the first kinslaying and the sons of Feanor.
In this last Episode 3, I really loved Nori's statement that she's "just one Harfoot in the whole wide world." That's almost identical to the last few lines of The Hobbit, when Gandalf tells Bilbo that he's "only one hobbit in the wide world," and Bilbo says "Thank goodness!"
This idea that anyone can accomplish great things if they are faithful in the roles appointed for them is a big theme in LOTR, when at the Council, Elrond declares that the quest of the Ring "may be attempted by the weak as well as by the strong." It's the idea that anyone can make a real difference in the world, and I'm glad to see that same theme emerging with Nori Brandyfoot.

I guess we will have to see where her story arc goes but right now the female versions of Frodo and Sam are not very exciting outside of the stranger hanging out with them.

Finally watched E3. The show continues to look good but the writing is still pretty bad and Galadriel is still awful. We're supposed to become engaged with the characters but it's not happening, especially with the harfoots, and the chain fight scene was Hobbit trilogy bad.
I had to motivate myself to watch this one, and I lost interest several times while watching it. I'm feeling even less enthusiasm for the next one.

I suppose I am the only one really enjoying the Harfoots. I think they are awesome.
I agree with you that what the show has done so far with Galadriel's character is annoying, but perhaps that will soon change.
I don't think that the writing is bad, but the direction has some issues. The long scenes on the ship as it approached Valinor was tedious, and the horse-riding scene in this episode was a facepalm moment.

quote:I disagree... we've been introduced to Eregion, Khazad Dum, and Numenor in those three. Also seen the beginnings of Mordor being established. We've met Gil Galad, Elendil, and Durin.
Nothing has really been accomplished or happened in 3 episodes.
I am hoping we see Oropher and Amdir soon; if they show up I'm going to be locked into this show. I want to see that contrast between the Silvan Elves and the Noldor.
