They brought in the bloater to bust a hole in the wall.
I knew that, I thought they were scaling the wall prior to getting set on fire. I may have been mistaken on that example.
Also up to this point, I have genuinely enjoyed the show. I just feel like we are at a fulcrum where it could get really cool with the Scar vs WLF stuff ro it could get really stupid. I hope it gets really cool.
Have they explained what a bloater is at any point? Its possible they did in season 1 and I just don't remeber but why are they so big and strong and seemingly smarter? and is it a dead person or just fungus?

they are a later stage of infection. I don't think they explained why some people reach that stage and others don't but I assumed it was due to the persons constitution or some other set of circumstances.

I watch it just because, but this Ellie super bad arse act is grating on the nerves every week. Terrible character and actress.

Haven’t even considered watching season 2 cause you knew it would be average at best. Seems like I made the right decision
First two episodes were actually pretty good. I just don't understand how they can screw this show up with the WOKE shite. This doesn't further the story and give me some more of the creatures and some action. I get it two girls like each other cool nope let get some feel good moments and show some gay love NOBODY CARES(we get it). I will still watch but losing interest quickly.

I don't have a problem with the gay stuff because that's from the game. My issue is the dialogue and acting

So any gay love interest in any tv show is automatically "woke"

I stopped after episode 2. Figured there was no topping that episode. I will check the reviews after the season to see if it's worth finishing

This show yes it is
Season 1 we had a 1 hour 15 min episode where half of it was two gay dudes feeding each other strawberries and a shower scene they both died that episode. I knew from the game he was gay but how did this further the show by half the episode being a gay love story? This show has so much potential but just falls flat when it could be phenomenal. Let us know about the different levels of the mutation of the zombie things or something.

It won an Emmy, that looks good on any shows resume.
The show is about the journey, not a race from start to finish.

So? Crash won an Oscar.
I think that’s when i stopped watching.
Anyway, defend better.

Hard to defend what amounts to visual Xanax.

The “I’m gonna be a dad” line might be the cringiest line of dialogue I’ve seen in any TV show

don't need to defend a show with 92 award wins and 128 nominations.
Noone expects the people that always cry about female characters to enjoy it. we expect you to try to nitpick every other aspect of the show. it's nothing new. we knew it would happen before the first episode of season 1 was released as soon as we got to this part of the show.

They’ve been infected longer. It goes runners —-> stalkers (the “new” one this season) ——-> clickers ———> bloaters

The showrunners aren’t exactly making that part difficult right now.

I knew that this part was always going to be a magnet for criticism from the anti-woke crowd. What I did not anticipate is how badly the show would handle it. I mean for frick’s sake.. “I’m gonna be a dad”? It’s like they’re trying to make it ridiculous.
Most of the criticisms I’ve seen in this thread since episodes 3 and 4 dropped are valid. I’m not SEK. I want the show to be good. And when it’s at its best, it is good. But right now they’re blowing it. They’re over halfway through a 7-episode (for some reason) season, they’ve somehow only made it through roughly a sixth of the actual story (if that), and the most memorable moment so far isn’t Joel’s death - it’s “I’m gonna be a dad.”
Bella Ramsey’s Ellie doesn’t come off as particularly clever, capable, or even all that angry. She comes off as kind of dumb, flippant, and more hung up on puppy love than Joel’s brutal murder. Like her quest for revenge is the post-apocalyptic equivalent of mini golf on date night. Yes, the show has told us that she’s capable. And they’ve told us that she’s mad. But she isn’t pulling it off. Whether it’s her or the writing (a bit of both IMO) is up for debate, but the net result is just off and has been all along.
Many of the changes they’ve made haven’t really made the story translate better to live action. In many cases they’ve actually made it translate worse.
If it were an undeniably great show that people criticized purely because it was woke, that would be one thing. But that’s not what I see happening. Not right now.

The first game had no cringe. The second game had a little. The TV show has all you can eat.

Awards given by peers that live in the same bubble. The bubble that has ignored what people actually want for years.

Why do the show runners have no interest in explaining this to the audience? Seems like pretty important information.
