Watched the past two episodes last night. Thought they were really bad. Now realizing that was season finale after reading this thread just now. Kill this show.

Abby was one of the main playable character in the game and she was barley in season 2 of the show.

There have been some funny theories out there that they skipped casting Kaitlyn Dever as Ellie because it would make picking Abby harder.
This doesnt make any sense because they did wanna cast Dever as Ellie for the movie in 2014. The reason she wasn't picked to play Ellie in the show is because it was 8 years later and she was too old to play a 14 year old. It's why they brought her in as Abby, because they still wanted her.

In 2014, Screen Gems announced plans to turn the title, about the journey of hardened survivor Joel and teenage companion Ellie across a pandemic-scarred America, into a movie. Sam Raimi (The Evil Dead, Spider-Man) was eventually going to direct. Neil Druckmann, a co-creator on the game, gave a young Dever a tour of Naughty Dog in the hopes that she would play Ellie in the film.

so ep 7 was the finale? I was wondering because I blew through them all the last couple days. I wasn't really engaged much in any episode though as I just left them running and would get up to do stuff while they played.
I haven't played the games, I always intended to but didn't get around to them. Is the show fairly close to the games?

There are some on here that have to like it, or the bad people win or whatever.

I watched this because my daughter was in to it. She thought this season sucked and last night's episode is my last episode. I thought this was a zombie show based on a video game. I didn't realize it was a teen aged lesbian love story. Nothing wrong with that, but I'm not the demographic for that show.

Season 2 Finale draws 3.7 million viewers
Down 55% from season 1 finale but still a big number.
That right there is what I've been saying they haven't released since episode 2. So, if the finale was down from ep1, it makes you wonder what episodes 3-6 looked like

you'll be able to tell on May 28th when they release the sunday tv numbers so you can compare them.
According to HBO, Season 2 is tallying nearly 37M global viewers per episode and growing (compared to 32M for S1).

Season 2 of The Last of Us concluded Sunday night with an audience of 3.7 million cross-platform viewers in the U.S., per HBO.
This is significantly lower than the Season 2 premiere episode’s 5.3M viewers, but the network says it expects there to be significant growth after the Memorial Day holiday weekend. That potential for growth is evidenced by the fact that Season 2 is already amassing more average viewers over time than Season 1.

Seeing people say this is misleading. It's comparing season 2 global numbers v season 1 domestic. Max wasn't available in several intl markets during season 1.

That's interesting. It is also comparing Season 1 numbers from 90 days after release and Season 2's viewers only days/weeks later.
These numbers will increase in the next 3 months

Did we have a zombie sighting in the last two episodes?

Wouldn't that be something if Abby becomes the lovable character over Ellie the complete opposite of the game.
Someone said something in one of the other threads early in the season along the lines of “if this is how Ellie was in the game, I can’t imagine having to play as a character you hate.” I had to bite my tongue to avoid spoiling the irony of that statement at the time.
It’s the exact opposite as you said - Kaitlyn Dever is going to wind up being much more likable (probably already is) than Abby was in the game. Kind of what I expected though. I think season 3 will be a lot better than season 2 for that reason alone.
If I had to summarize my feelings about season 2, I’d say this:
- Episode 1 was OK.
- Episode 2 was very good.
- Episodes 3 and 4 were just bad.
- Episode 5 had a couple of high points but a lot of bad/wtf.
- Episodes 6 and 7 were both good.
I think they finished fairly strong, but it’s unfortunate that the middle of the season was so stupid. I imagine they lost a lot of audience between episodes 2 and 6. I also don’t know how I’d feel about the end of the season if I didn’t already know the story. I can imagine it being a pretty unsatisfying season finale if you didn’t already know what was coming.
There were also still some “wtf” moments like sneaking around with a flashlight turned on, or accidentally shooting two people with one bullet, or setting up to try to take out 2 moving targets at like 50 yards with a pistol (she must be a lot better shot than me…).

Many in episode 6. There's a big set piece with the smart zombies.
Not in 7, that I can recall an hour after watching it.

This season was the worst collapse of a TV show since GoT. These showrunners have butchered this story.

Episode 2 was very good.

Like in the finale I just finished watching I enjoyed most of the ep. even though the ending was confusing, I can roll with it as many season finales end with cliffhangers and leave you intrigued and guessing until the next season.
But I wish they went a different way with the seraphites/Ellie encounter. That was hilariously bad. They should’ve just had them sight her near shore and shooting arrows at her or something while Ellie evaded them in the boat and could’ve still worked in the dialogue shouting back and forth if needed. Once they heard the horns from the village it would’ve been realistic they’d let her go since obviously their colony was in danger and Ellie was alone. Instead that couple minutes induced some serious eye rolls that they just let her go rather than taking a second to slash her as they were hanging her before they ran off. Interested to see more of the scar cult next season and what the beef originates from between them and the WLFs

Agreed. That was probably the worst scene of the entire season. Shoulda did something different there.

This was really a bad season for sure. Its to the point where dont really care what happens. The plot holes are so large and unbelievable. The final episode had many. The lead being so unlikeable, the after show of them telling us how to feel when i sure as hell didn't get the same feeling. I told the wife some shows the time flies and you say dam there's no way that was an hour. This one is like is this almost over ?feels like two hours.
