Eacctly! Tara prego at 45 in a world with poor to nonhealth care is a concept that doesnt make sence. Anyone else ever hear of eastern co as a school? I knew of northen co, csu, and cu in boulder.

she was an irritating smartass teenager, but was a bit more endearing.
not complaining about Ramsey's portrayal as she also has her endearing moments, but unless they casted a 20 yo Ashley Johnson, you weren't going to capture the same character.

She was way more softer and lovable than the version in the show.

I think it changed when he found out that that was his wife. Not sure why he couldn't have semi been happy for them about the marriage and the baby. Tommy had to apologize to Joel for some reason. Hard to relate to what he's been through though.
Overall a really good episode imo. Pretty awesome settlement they have going on. I would have stayed longer for sure
People aren't going to like it but this episode just kind of confirms how much of a filler episode the Bill and Frank episode was. I am not one of the guys that was arguing anti gay stuff in that episode thread, but I knew unless Bill ends up actually not being dead, it was just a fille episode that could have used minutes progressing the story. Its months later and Joel still had the same feeling towards Ellie as he did before he got the letter from Bill. That wasn't some breakthrough moment for him. The breakthrough moment clearly was Ellie telling Joel how she felt.

Also, I really wanted Bill to have a lasting part in the show. IDK the extent of his part in the video game, but it was disappointing that he only lasted one episode. I think I just wanted to see more Nick Offerman.

What are you talking about? Joel's whole monologue comes before Ellie tells him how she feels. His level of feeling has grown with each episode.

I don’t think he felt the same way about her that he did in Boston. I think he wanted to believe he didn’t care about her, but we see him break down in front of Tommy because he is worried he’s going to get her killed and feels like he’s failing her.
When he’s with her (up to that point) the walls go up. But I think the point of his conversation with Tommy is to illustrate that it’s a bit of a facade, which he finally realizes after his argument with Ellie.
So the argument is a turning point in the sense that he finally realizes he’s lying to himself.
FWIW I don’t think Bill’s letter was meant to be a breakthrough so much as foreshadowing.

Which monologue? Maybe I'm miss remembering. But he was still cold and treated it like a business relationship up until she went off on him. After that is when he showed up at the stable. He wasn't going to do that until he saw how she actually felt and it moved him to want to continue to personally be her protector.

A small amount, yes. But for the most part she was still just precious cargo. Now she is someone that there is a personal attachment too. That certainly didn't happen because of the letter. Just saying it's become clear that was a filler episode, which is fine. It was a love story, but it didn't do anything/what people were trying to make it out to be for the main story.

He asked him to take Elle after that and Tommy agreed. It just didn’t make much sense to me as Joel had already opened up to Tommy and told him how scared he was. To go from that to “see you later but you can borrow my gun”…just seemed odd. Especially knowing that Elle is perhaps the key to save civilization.

Because the show isn't that good. It's not the worst show ever made. It just had bad storytelling. The characters make stupid decisions and months of travel are just skipped.
As mentioned in this threads before, they have to go almost all the way across the country but they use one episode to show how they got a truck and then crash it the next episode.

Lived in Calgary a couple years and I recognize quite a few backdrops from my time there. Edmonton and Canmore as well. In fact, my apartment was about 4 blocks from the building they shot the scene when they were hiding in the bar in KC. Probably walked or drove in front of that building 500 times. Also, if I am right I recognized the closing scene of E6 as being located over by Heritage park in Calgary near the reservoir. Rode my bike by that location often. Pretty cool seeing those in the background.

Wasn't one of the biggest complaints about The Walking Dead was how many episodes were dedicated to them just walking and traveling?

His panic attacks all throughout the episode and his breakdown with his brother were all clearly about him caring for Ellie and not wanting to fail her like he did his own daughter (which was even confirmed by the creators in the after episode debrief). His whole barking at her about not being his daughter was all stated because he obviously very much views here as a pseudo daughter now. It's very clear how in each episode his level of personal care for her has grown.

Yes but he wasn’t exactly thrilled to have to ask at that point because the stuff he was finding out was putting a wrench in his plans. That’s why he wasn’t very excited to hear about the wife and her pregnancy.
It could also be that he was a little jealous when he heard about it. He was going all that way to find his brother first, deliver Elle second. I think that switched along the way and then he found out his brother didn’t really need him like he thought. His brother was going to help him out because of that sacrifice he made maybe?. Didn’t he lie about Tess as well saying she was fine? Why would he do that? Maybe so his brother thought he still had someone to live for?
But I think the conversation with Elle finally pushed him to that decision but all the stuff before it factored in. If he didn’t bring Elle what else was he gonna do? Also remember he was having some health spells leading up to all this which had him worried as well.
This show fills in a lot of that blanks after the fact which can get confusing when trying to discuss it. Joel is a complex character and an imperfect one which really appeals to me. We need more imperfect heroes.

My thing with that is that even though he's showing these signs, he was still ok with passing her off to Tommy. He did not have a I'm going to see this until the end mentality, whether it be because there was a fear of failure or not.

Yea me saying there hadn't been any change is wrong, there was some change in episodes 4 and 5. I just think this was the game changer, and it was because he now see's just how she feels. I'm not trying to turn this into an ep. 3 debate, I quit posting in that one it got so bad, but I do think this episode lessens the argument that ep. 3 was important for Joel/Ellies relationship and it being an episode to progress the story. At this point, it could have been excluded and you wouldn't have missed a beat.
I'll quite talking about ep. 3 now, don't want to get hung up on it
The actor who played Tommy was in True Detective but I can't picture his character. he must have been in S2.
