Movie was horribly marketed and sold to the public.

Sure we don't want trailers that tell the whole movie but the trailer was so sparse and told you nothing what the movie was about except some European period piece that involves non-Superhero fighting (so if you were under 21, you were probably out.)

Medieval movies are a hard sell especially about topics nobody knows anything about...even Robin Hood movies bomb.

I’ll be in the theater for Dune and The French Dispatch this Thursday and Friday. I had zero interest in seeing the Duel movie. Trailer didn’t do its job.

Yeah, I’ll be there for Last Night in Soho as well.

I was going to the theater for this one as well. Then I found a quality download of it. Excited for movie night at home for this one

What, nearly two decades of crappy cartoons, comic book heroes, bad relaunches of old franchises and woke trash and you’re surprised people don’t know what to do with an original screenplay?

We’ve brought up two generations on cinematic garbage and habits don’t change quickly.

I'm going to go see The Last Duel this week. If it's a period piece by Ridley Scott, I'm giving it a shot (heh, rhyme).

Gonna be the first time back in the theatre since the pandemic started, and I'm planning to go back a few days later to see Dune.

Give us original movies that don’t look like crap.

Matt Damon looks absolutely cringeworthy in the trailer. That alone made me lose any interest

Literally the 1st I'm hearing of this movie.

I think I pay more attention to such things than most 'normies', but then again, if it's not in my wheel house, I'm probably gonna tune it out anyways.

Like Capetian Marvel, or Terminator : Dork Fate.

Meh.

Marvel needs to throw movie theaters a bone with the eternals or something. They might not last much longer.

I know it won't happen. That would help I think if they made something big like that exclusive in theaters at least for 6-8 weeks or something. Then put it on Disney+

Antlers comes out at the end of October. First movie that is gonna make me go to the theaters in a long time.

Not even MCU films are hitting big numbers for more than a week or two. I think people have figured out that they prefer watching movies at home.

The marketing on the film was pretty bad. It tried to portray an epic duel between two men as some sort of feminist triumph with the tagline, "One woman defied a nation."

That might have had something to do with it.

Yea and i imagine Disney+ is doing great without theatres. I know HBO has to be all the big movies they got this year.

I wonder if HBO will keep getting movies thru big studios the same day they go in theaters or was this a covid thing?

I didn't know anything about The Last Duel but now I want to see it

Our society is driven by Tik Tok and YouTube, I don't think it's any surprise that mindless and dumb movies are favored over historical epics.

It was fine. The movie has a weird unnecessary structure but if it I didn’t, the movie would be like 39 minutes long. As I said in my thread, the fuel was good and Ben Affleck is hilariously bad

Replace Damon, Driver, and Affleck with Hardy, Hiddleston, and Bale, and I'm going in spite of the trailer. Maybe Cumberbatch too.

Yes. It’s not a “feel good story” by any stretch of the imagination. Even the good ending isn’t entirely good. But it’s a beautifully shot film with excellent acting and a good story even if it drags just a bit, with an excellent penultimate and ultimate scenes.

From what I’ve read. Halloween kills looks like a garbage follow up to the excellent reboot.

People like empty entertainment I guess while screaming for new, original stories.

I am sure it is a good movie. If I go to the theater I want to really enjoy the time. I rarely go see any type of drama in the theater.

The movie looked ridiculous, featuring Matt Damon and Ben Affleck doing horrific accents. Saw the trailer when I went to see Many Saints of Newark and laughed the whole time.

I'd like an original movie AND it to not look like it's going to suck hard.
