Yeah, I thought the grocery store scene was pretty clear.

Rick and Morty did a great scene related to this in one of their post credit scenes following a Thanksgiving episode.

Yeah, I did three tours in the Middle East and worked next to a lot of EOD guys. The hurt locker is the biggest piece of trash I’ve ever seen. The outpost is somewhat close though on some of the action we experienced. There are talks to do a movie based on a book about my platoon. My buddies and I fear they will Hollywood it up and it’ll be trash.

My brother is a very big fan of this show. He just always reverts back to BHD strictly from a combat perspective. But he loves this series.

Hollywood just can't help hollywooding. Frustrates the hell out me with movies like Hurt Locker and the Martian.

I was really looking forward to seeing the Hurt Locker when it came out after all the great reviews but it was a huge letdown with all the classic Hollywood cowboy shite.

The Martian was a million times better but the ending with the crazy shenanigans getting Whatley back to the Hermes was ridiculous. It's like if Dog Day Afternoon ended with Sonny and Sal killing all the law enforcement surrounding the van, jumping in the passenger plane and flying away then dying after getting into a dogfight with a squadron of F-4s.

Check out The Outpost starring Clint Eastwood’s son. Most realistic I’ve seen compared to my own experiences.

The outpost supposedly used actual ISR footage to choreograph the combat scenes.

Hurt Locker was one that just completely missed me. I heard all the hype and saw it win awards and whatnot, and then I watched it and thought it was terrible. Just boring as hell and not very good. I always just assumed I must have missed something.

And of course it features Hollywood’s biggest weird hard-on, guys that should know better using a pistol over a rifle. SMH.

In the initial release they had the SSGs name tape and US ARMY on the wrongs sides, his CAB was over his name tape. They fixed it quickly.

Thoughts on We Were Soldiers?

I thought the combat scenes were quite good capturing the tactics and terror.

But is it remotely realistic? Not even close.

How many modern war movies are super accurate?

The Thin Red Line and Saving Private Ryan (at least in parts)?

Some Vietnam War movies made in the 80s?

The most realistic portrayal of war between mental anguish and actual reality is a combination of

Act 1 of Full Metal Jacket
Platoon
Saving Private Ryan
Black Hawk Down
Apocalypse Now

Same guy also does a review on The Outpost, which he said was easily on of the most realistic portrayals of the war in Afghanistan (minus some of the cringe lines in the film).

Well it was directed by a woman, so of course the cereal aisle is going to irreparably screw with his head.

Its a great series but there is very little "war" in it. From all accounts it nails the dynamic between the men and modern engagments.
