Hill House was one of the few tv shows/films that actually scared me. The penultimate episode of that show had me wanting to turn it off because the sense of dread was so heavy.

Wasn’t a big fan of Bly Manor though.

This was totally different so it’s probably my fault for expecting more of the same.

The last episode was pretty awful. Rest of the season I enjoyed, but my god did that last episode drag on.

Hill House was definitely scarier and creepier, but overall I still enjoyed the season.

Just finished. Not nearly as good as the first season but still not bad overall. 7/10

Spoilers

Part of what made the first season so great was the bitter sweet ending. I think they attempted that this season but I didn't like the gardener or Dani. Hannah dying did upset me a little.

Apparently the little girl that plays Flora is also the voice of Peppa Pig. I knew her voice sounded familiar but I couldn't pin point it.

Anyone think Miles' Poppet story was an allegory for Christ or maybe Old Testament God? Maybe I'm thinking too much into it.

Show lost me at Episode 7. Just all over the place, no thread binding the house, ghosts, physics, history. All over the place, not nearly as tight or scary as Hill House.

The entire history is explained in episode 8

I enjoyed it. Not as good as Hill House, but that was an incredibly high bar. I get why the aged versions of the characters aren’t super obvious. Would have spoiled that whole dynamic if you used the same actors for the adults.

***spoiler****

Ok if it was jamie the gardner at the hotel in the end, why did she go back to the room and fill up the bathtub and sink and then open the hotel room door and just sit there?

Not trying to be snarky, but did you listen to the narrator at all? She explicitly said she did it to hope to get a glimpse or see her long lost love.

I finished last night. Definitely ticked up better. It was a sad and emotional ending for sure, although I thought the casting of older Owen to be odd and they just skimmed over Miles.

Bly should have been creepier considering the house

I also didn't think Viola's ghost was very scary looking.

Also, potential spoilers:

Whatever happened with Dani's ex-fiance? Did he somehow disappear/get sucked into the house when she threw his glasses into the fire?

I really think it was just her conscience and not a haunting. She threw the glasses in as catharsis and let go of the guilt: thus he was gone.

She said earlier that she "still looks at her reflection in the water hoping to see Dani. She also said she still leaves her door open in case she were to ever want to come back".

Best thing about this season is Mark from The Room as Flora’s fiancé

You obviously didn't see the hand on her shoulder. Go back and take a look.

Finished the last 2 of Bly last night.
I was disappointed- 7 at best.

The first 5/6 epsiodes had me excited but then it fizzled imho.
Flora and Miles were creepy. Dani being spooked by her ex. Peter, Becca, Hannah and Owen had me interested.

Oh well, can just rewatch Hill House
