Wouldn't she be stuck at Bly forver

I could be wrong but that part of the spell was broken when Dani invited Viola “in”

I agree with the poster that the Viola backstory should’ve been interspersed throughout. In one of the earlier episodes the camera lingered on her name in the chapel, almost like it had been a plan to do so.

Only reason I’m gonna finish this is bc I’m watching it with the SO and we both feel pot committed

The plot is so incoherent and redundant. It’s exhausting.

Update: just finished the season and I hate it twice as much as I did after episode 7

Holy frick they would not land the damn plane. It drug on for ever and ever and ever and ever. And made no frickin sense, riddled with plot holes and god awful writing

I never saw the first season but the girl I watched it with RAVED about the first season and hated it just as much as I did

Hill house is much better about looping in various ghost of the house.

Spoilers:

Explain to me the uncle. Why was his "ghost" talking to him? I assumed he was dead since this was going on but it turns out he was alive the whole time.

That was his evil side that more or less took over, continuing to sell the ruse to the outside world that his brother (and sister-in-law) was still alive. It was for business purposes. He knew he was a POS for sleeping with his SIL, as it was, but once he learned of their deaths in the accident in India, he suffered a bit of a break with reality, a la Norman Osborn. That evil part of his was the one running the show, to keep the business from tanking.

There were several Henry James stories put into this series. This was "The Jolly Corner." Episode 8 was another of his tales.

SPOILERS:

What were the visions of the other characters about as people were dancing at the reception. Were these reincarnates? Was she just seeing things? What was the point of that?

It was 20 years later. It was Flora's wedding. Jamie tells the story. Owen and Miles watch Uncle Henry dance with Flora.

So that was actually them??? That was supposed to be an aged Owen and Uncle Henry?

Yeah- I guess if they used makeup, it would've ruined the twist in the beginning and had no payoff. It's a bit ridiculous, though- I don't know many friends that looked like entirely different people 20 years ago.

Henry establishes when they are reunited that they're going to the US.

Did you miss the reveal before Jamie left the reception to go up to her room that they showed the younger versions of them all at the reception while Flora & Henry were dancing?

I’m not a language expert but I feel like she would still have an accent despite changing postal codes

ETA also they stated the kids recognized Hannah and remembered staying at Bly Manor as children (when she was 17 at the time) but didn’t remember all the horror

Yet this entire story never rang any bells for them as adults?

I took that to mean that as time passed more and more of their memories faded.

Clearly since after hearing the whole story Flora doesn’t even remember anything.

Opposite of Hill House. Where what the kids went through seriously screwed them all up as adults. In this one....the kids went through a lot...but were able to forget it and have happy lives.

If you read up the page that was my initial question.

I get why they didn't have them look themselves in the beginning but its still disappointing writing. I can get my head around Miles and Flora but no way Owen, Jamie and the uncle would have changed that much.

Just finished. Magnificent writing and story telling. The last two episodes were some of the best TV I’ve watched recently.

It had a tall task to live up to Haunting of Hill House and while the first season (though they aren’t connected in any way) was better, this was just below it. Like a 9/10 to the 10/10 that is Hill House.

Can’t wait to see what they do next. Hopefully Hell House by Richard Matheson.

I thought it was terrible and super lazy story telling.

I am not usually one to crap on things, but it sucked

Different strokes, I guess. Don’t know what to tell you.

I personally loved it. Not as much as Hill House but I’m looking forward to a rewatch.
