Yep. Turning John Stewart into a Yellow Lantern in everything but name is much more than just "one insanely particular version of individual characters." It's a complete rejection of everything that has ever existed about Green Lanterns.

fricks and falls in love with genocidal monster.
Doesn't kill the genocidal monster when he has a chance leading to multiple deaths.
Let's another potential genocidal monster go.
Let's the murderer of Hal Jordan go.
Covers up the murder of Hal Jordan.
Keeps Hal Jordan's ring he stole off of his dead body.
Charges the stolen ring with a yellow lantern forged by Sinestro.

From the post: "The whole point of the show is defying the path that is set before you..."

The whole point of the show is JOHN defying the path that is set before him. He can't be working for The Man and The System because he's a Strong Black Man who says "aks" (sometimes), so screw the all-powerful Guardians. This is BlackpantherLantern and he does what he wants without white people telling him what to do. He has an un-sanctioned ring, his own charging lantern, his own oath and his own lantern color.

I have no idea how that fits with the lore, but I'm pretty sure a legit GL wouldn't be scared (I thought that was a no-no) of a ringless John Stewart like bowlcut was so I'm not sure the lore matters much.

The people who made this show should never find work again. All of them. They injected viewpoints completely incompatible with a civilized society throughout the entire season.

Oh come on, everybody's ok with a little hysterical murder every now & then.

Nicholson wasn't wrong. "I think of a man, and I take away reason and accountability."

"Lanterns" writer Tom King on Hal Jordan's murder: "We had a big debate. It was like, 'Does Kerry Kane get punished?' Nothing could punish her more than the fact that she did that thing and she has to live with it. There's no, like, jail isn't worse than that."

First time I've seen this Tom King guy talk. He seems just as fricked in the head as the other writers.

Fell asleep 15 minutes in I'll finish at some point.

Not reading the thread to avoid spoilers but my guess is the board hates it. Hopefully I'm wrong.

No spoilers from me, but you're not wrong. It was an abysmal finale to a horrible show.

“There’s, no, like jail isn’t worse than that”

Unless it’s Hal going to jail for trying to save people. This also make no sense, “he takes the blame”? He’s a green lantern, this alien manhunter attacked earth using satellites nobody knew about with the tech that exists in this universe? There’s no municipal court that’s going to try him, that’s so stupid it could only be in this show. There’s no way he’d be held accountable anyway unless the court is packed with evil Manhunter cultist which wouldn’t happen because again, the scale and nature of the event. This show is retarded

Ok ok..
I enjoyed the show for the most part. A little "who dunnit?". A little superhero stuff. A little backstory on the Lantern that will move on to be in the Justice League.
And well, the end was just nuts. Really cant understand what happened? The sheriff lover killed Hal? Hal was stuck in jail to end like that? No proper funeral for Hal? Hal was rebuilt just to die? The plant survived fire? Unbelievable.

And now here is me grasping for something.
This is the plan. Hal gets revived , feels the disrespect (with a little coaxing from Sinestro), and becomes one of the main baddies in the 2nd big crossover DC movie.

I mean.. I hope there is a plan.

James Gunn has literally said if you die in the DCU, you stay dead

What a joke. And the acting in the death scene

> Snyder writes like an edgy 14 year old, makes Batman use guns, then gets fired after 2 1/2 movies
> with a few exceptions, everything after is either mid or complete slop
> The Flash becomes one of the biggest bombs in movie history
> Joker 2 is a literal middle finger to all DC fans
> The Rock randomly tries to coup and take over DC from within
> James Gunn is hired and says he’s starting over before all the old universe movies are even out (but not really because whatever he likes is actually staying)
> Literally no one watches Creature Commandos, the technical start to the new universe
> Superman is ok, but just ok isn’t great for the true start of a cinematic universe
> Supergirl, the second movie in the universe, somehow flops harder than The Flash
> Gunn announces a fricking Jimmy Olsen and Gorilla Grodd parody show where they break into song like High School Musical
> Lanterns is such a disgusting, horrible, insulting, borderline evil character assassination of the entire Green Lantern mythos that it somehow makes the 2011 movie look like a masterpiece
> The Batman part II delayed to 2087
> the third film in the universe is a low budget psychological horror movie about a C tier Batman villain

Im tired man…
