Sebastian Stan transforms into a young Donald Trump in the first trailer for The Apprentice.
In the drama, the actor, 42, portrays Trump, 78, during an era decades before his presidency.
The Apprentice also stars Oscar-nominated Borat 2 actress Maria Bakalova as Ivana Trump, who died in 2022, plus Succession star Jeremy Strong as lawyer Roy Cohn, who died in 1986.
According to a synopsis, "A young Donald Trump (Stan), eager to make his name as a hungry second son of a wealthy family in 1970s New York, comes under the spell of Roy Cohn (Strong), the cutthroat attorney who would help create the Donald Trump we know today."
"Cohn sees in Trump the perfect protégé — someone with raw ambition, a hunger for success, and a willingness to do whatever it takes to win."

I am sure this will be a fair and non biased portrayal

The film was first announced in May 2018, with Gabriel Sherman slated to write the screenplay.
Billionaire Dan Snyder, former owner of the Washington Redskins, donated money to the production with the impression that the film would be a positive portrayal of Trump. After seeing a cut of the film, Snyder was said to be furious, and lawyers for the Kinematics production company sought to oppose the release of the film.
The film includes controversial scenes, including those that depict Trump violently raping his first wife, Ivana, abusing amphetamines in order to lose weight, and undergoing liposuction and plastic surgery to remove a bald spot.
It was eventually submitted at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival.
After much difficulty in finding a domestic distributor over concerns regarding its content and an attempt by Trump's legal team to block it, Tom Ortenberg's Briarcliff Entertainment would confirm a scheduled fall theatrical release in August of 2024.

Hollywood has forgotten propaganda works best when it's subtle.
When it's obvious it actually has the opposite effect.

I heard Trump team has been trying to get this film censored in court - because they hate freedom of speech - but everything they have objected to is sourced and factual.

You know, I thought that Trump had the election in the bag, but now I’m nervous thanks to this movie.
Lol what is this 2004? Yeah I’m sure Fahrenheit 9/11 also played a yuge part in W. Not getting re-elected. Oh wait..
ETA: propaganda like this doesn’t work in 2024. I’d say the same thing if daily wire did a Kamala movie

Before Hurt’s book came out, Trump’s lawyers pressured the publisher, W. W. Norton, to paste a clarifying statement from Ivana into the flyleaf of every copy.
In it, she confirmed that she had said in a deposition that her husband had “raped” her, but added that she did not want those words to be interpreted in “a literal or criminal sense.” She also said, “As a woman, I felt violated.”
Hurt said that he considers the note a non-denial denial, and believes that Ivana agreed to amend her words in order to secure the divorce settlement, in which she reportedly received fourteen million dollars in cash.
When the rape story resurfaced last summer, Ivana issued a statement saying that it was “without merit.” “She and Donald have raised three kids together. They’re picking their bedrooms in the White House,” Hurt said. “But she’s not saying it’s untrue, or that she didn’t swear to it under oath.”
this is pretty dicey territory, they took the deposition testimony of an angry woman going through a divorce and negotiating a massive settlement and filmed it as really happening. However she has said numerous times he did not literally rape her but he forced himself on her and she felt violated.
So the film is going to portray him as a spouse rapist committing a violent crime
so either she lied in her deposition or she lied in her explanation after the deposition
