quote:You don't understand RT scores.
Especially when the critics have it so high (where anonymous internet scores don't count)
85% RT score means 85% of critics have said it is watchable.
They don't account for critics scores.
Go to Metacritic, where they average the ratings of the critics, it is at 67. The highest rating any one critic gave the show was an 87 by "Paste Magazine" whatever that is.

‘The Acolyte’ Creator Doesn’t Believe Her New Star Wars Series Is “Queer With a Capital Q”
Leslye Headland, showrunner of the Jedi drama starring Amandla Stenberg, is proud to inspire LGBTQ fans, but says the story is being read in unintended ways.
quote:
However, as someone who generally pushes back on the notion that queer artists are capable of creating only queer or queer-coded art, Headland remains perplexed by a recent viral moment from her show’s L.A. junket. A journalist posited to her and Stenberg that The Acolyte is “arguably the gayest Star Wars by a considerable margin.” The writer-director and her star had fun with the line of inquiry, but now that the exchange has generated a bevy of responses, the question of what makes a piece of mass entertainment “gay” is one this queer artist continues to ponder in earnest. “I was surprised by the question. Amandla and I just burst out laughing because that’s our knee-jerk reaction to being asked that, but to be honest, I don’t know what the term ‘gay’ means in that sense,” admits Headland, adding, “I don’t believe that I’ve created queer, with a capital Q, content.”

yeah, those scores look about right. 6.7 seems where i figured this show would end up. If you took the 0's out of the user scores and just counted the actual reviews you'd probably end up with something similar.
I do think some movies could deserve a 1 or a 0 but it would have to be truly awful production and acting, something like The Room (2003) comes to mind.
people voting things a 0 cuz they don't like the cast or director or "they broke the previously written lore" is not a true review of the final product.

Buddy, not using slurs isn’t high and mighty. It’s basic decency.
How delicate are you? Seriously. Calling that angry entitled little count "Dirt Brown" because Disney decided to reimagine an age-old classic of Snow White isn't a 'slur'. The real affront is from Disney, first, and that entitled psychopath diva who demands she get paid for every MINUTE she's in her make-believe fairy-tale dress.
Be glad I didn't refer to her as Skid-mark Stain or Rectal Mocca.
Or much much worse.

This quote just keeps fitting nicely:
quote:
"In the same way that the original Star Wars film, A New Hope, is about a young man living in Modesto, California, who doesn't want to take over his dad's hardware store," Headland said to The Advocate, referring to George Lucas' own personal inspiration behind the creation of Star Wars, "there's just no way that me being a queer woman is not going to be reflected in my work."

My god, what pajama wearing soyboy was the one who downvoted this?
These people are literally coming right out and telling you this is what they're doing.
Just like Disney's 'not so secret gay agenda'. The writers of She Hulk making a garbage series, KNOWING it would be hated by the fanbase, and then laughing about it.
Or psycho Mindy Kaling inserted herself as Velma, and not holding anything back with her overt racism. Because she's protected.
Don't forget Taika 'I'll ruin your mythos in a minute, baby!' Waititi.
Race swapped Ariel, Snow White, Peter Pan (and Tinkerbell), etc...
It's never ending.
Can't wait to not see this less funny version of 'Legend of Vox Machina'

We also love emasculating leading men.
Actually doing women a disservice, if you have to come out and say it's not enough to have them be Xena like and such. Nope. Easy as pie to put a different spin on it, say you're showing both men and women are more than narrow stereotypes. Far better ways to upsell the characters than boasting about nerfing the men to make the women SEEM better.
John Francis Daley has been doing decent stuff since Freaks and Geeks, then on BONES. Don't know why he felt the need to tank his project before it even comes out. What a buffoon.

Nice copy n paste job.
So, through all of that, you cited a grand total of ONE movie that wasn't quite as woke as many were claiming it would be. Even John Francis Daley's comments were misleading.
How is that being wrong " so many times"? I even complimented JFD on most of his work (that I'm aware of) from Freaks n Geeks to BONES.
I guess you feel somewhat justified, but in all honesty, you air balled that pretty badly.
* BTW - the comment you lifted this 'own' from got 11 upvotes to 0 down votes.
Not seeing how this is the win you think it is.

yeah half the other people in that thread were wrong with you. shows how little upvotes mean. (kinda like reviews when they come from people that havent watched something)
many of them came straight out claiming it would be woke garbage.
you all saw 1 article proclaiming it as woke and jumped on hook, line, and sinker.

Why? All the others shows and movies I mentioned were disasters. The DnD was OK, by most measure, but not by any means outstanding.
You mentioned ALL the times I was wrong. I'll admit to 1/2 of this, but only because JFD basically gave a headfake to try to sell the movie for what it wasn't.

I reacted to what one writer said, HIMSELF, not merely what one article TOLD me to think.
Hard for you go distinguish between the two, huh?
Move on, take the L on this one, and fire off all those OTHER W's you think you've found.

yeah the part you perceived as negative. you ignored the part where he said it had nothing to do with wokeness.
i'm not searching through a billion pages of post history, I just remembered specifically this board jumping all over that rage bait and knew you would be part of it.
it comes with the territory of those who post nerdrotic videos that are designed to generate rage clicks.

Corinthians420: Uhh. . .no
M/TV Board: Then how do you know the complaints are untrue or unfair?

did you just make up a quote by me?
I haven't said anything about The Acolyte is untrue. I have simply stated the fact that it's impossible to review something you haven't watched.
Would you review the quality of food at a sushi restaurant a 0 because you don't eat sushi?
