Jamie checking his pants in absolute terror after the string got ripped off is the hardest I've ever laughed watching this show.

Roy's face in this scene busted me up. he was giddily smiling when he checked, then straight faced disappointed when he was ok

Ted Lasso Season 3 Thread *Spoilers*

That’s about the only thing left that the show has going for it, because it certainly isn’t very funny.

I'm fine with Beard. His combination of having such a store of knowledge and his wild side is still pretty entertaining to me.

I do think they are coming close to turning Roy into a caricature. He started out as a great character, and he does show some development from time to time but stuff like him taking joy in the pain for the players having string tied to their dicks is just a little over the top.

It's a show that's ultimately about writers losing focus and the crappy results that follow.

In fairness, that's the entire basic premise to the show.

Yeah that’s not untrue

But something about the soundtrack and the city shots felt more Major League

Of course the “juuuuust a bit outside” on MacAdoo’s corner was an obvious reference .

Also Higgins pulling tea when the soccer ball hit the window was hilarious.

This episode has more soccer/coaching based humor and content then we’ve had in a while

I could not agree more. It feels like it does not have much direction. Instead it’s all about immigration, bigotry, alphabet people.

The shut up and dribble stuff is really obnoxious.

Oooh, you’re going to love this episode then. To be fair, it wasn’t a favorite of mine, but hopefully sets things up for the homestretch. I just really, really hope this was Ted realizing, as Rebecca, he needs to look forward and reset his thoughts on his future relationship with Michelle, regardless of whether she and Jake stay together or not.

Also, continue to enjoy Jamie growing up and being accountable.

I also enjoyed what seems like a pretty realistic relationship between Nate and Jade. Hopefully she will be the good angel counteracting the bad angel that is Rupert.

Got to be in the running for the worst episode to date... nothing happened

A big “ F YOU” to everyone who thought Total Football would get us back on track for soccer.

It was glossed over a 30 second montage that it works and Richmond is on a big winning streak to get into an hour of Keely and Jack BS

This show is unbearable

I enjoyed Ted’s lesson for Ep.8, “We’ll Never Have Paris”.

Find out before you flip out.

The writing has really gone to shite this season. We finally got a great episode last week that actually advanced major plotlines, then this week's episode was like two different Ted Lasso spinoff shows about Nate and Keely's relationships crammed together incoherently. Pretty disappointing.

I get The frustration.

Soccer has really fallen away to the personal stuff, and peak TL was a mix of them both.

That being said overall pretty good episode from a general entertainment purposes.

I was Interested in the contrast between Jack, Jamie and Roy’s reactions to the scandal.

Jack was worried about appearances
Roy was just jealous
Jamie showed genuine character growth.

Also frick Doctor Jacob. I am glad they showed him being a ducking dork tourist.

Keely’s side story is dumb, she was a good bit character while being around the team.

Trying to break her off on her own was a bad move.

Reminds me of when the office jumped the shark and started following characters outside of the office setting on the regular.

Edit: I know they cast children when they are young so it’s a crap shoot, but man they have to be bummed that Henry sucks as an actor as he grows.

That’s because it’s so important to the show to depict “girl bosses.”

Honestly, Keeley has gone from being super savvy to having horrible business sense in less than a year. She doesn’t understand how that video undermines her brand at Bantr. She also doesn’t seem to understand why making a video like that grosses Jack out. Then she spends time complaining that women are oversexualized and while standing up for herself making the video. She’s all over the place this season. She was at her best when she was with Roy.

I liked the sidebar with Nate. It’s nice to see he’s still a big ole nerd in over his head. I’m happy he landed Jade.

Also, good growth for Ted this episode.

And OMG. The Beatles are so f’ing overrated. I wanted to gouge my eyes out being forced to listen to the whole town singing “Hey, Jude.”

I agree the show has taken a step backwards this year. It’s like writers are trying out-cute themselves. Everything is just so gosh darned sweet and cute.

They are constantly pushing Nate to get over his BS and reconcile with Ted.

His makeshift Diamond Dogs meeting was funny.

Sort of agree, although I would probably call it one of my least favorite episodes. I would still rather watch this than 99% of anything else.

My biggest gripe now is that I just don't like anything to do with Keeley anymore. A whole episode of relationship BS with Jack was a huge bore. At least it looks like that may be over. If she ends up with either Jamie or Roy I'll be happy. Jamie and Roy have both grown enough that they each deserve a good relationship with a former favorite character. Roy took a step back and Jamie a big step up this week. I would like that storyline resolved so we at least have a couple of episodes of Keely and Jamie/Roy as a real couple to see how it goes.

I did like the Nate storyline. Not the best I've ever watched but enjoyable. Trent becoming a Diamond Dog was fun, as was Roy participating and then contradicted with Nate failing with the love hounds. I thought it was really nice to see him happy in a relationship. And then his reaction to Ted being at the game was nice. I think this is all leading to him breaking out of his shell and redeeming himself. Success combined with a happy personal life should be the push for him to abandon his false bravado and be the Nate we loved. Hopefully as coach of Richmond next season.

Looks like something interesting between Colin and Isaac coming up. And while I didn't love the Ted scenes as much as normal it is nice to see him not be the happy goofy guy smiling at all the bad stuff.

As far as quality of the show now, here's my take and I may be wrong. But the first season was 10 episodes around 30 minutes each. Most people that watched loved it. Season 2 wrote 10 episodes and then added 2 more after the fact due to popularity. One of those (Christmas) is GOATish and the other (Beard night out) was largely not loved. And the episode were a little longer but generally around 35 minutes.

Season 3 came out the gate with 12 episodes running often 50 minutes plus. If each episode averages 45 minutes that 540 minutes versus roughly 300 minutes for Season 1. That's a lot more filler. I think if each episode were stripped down to 30 minutes people would like the show a lot more. But personally, I'm okay with the longer filler stuff even thought it sometimes comes with a Jack storyline. Especially knowing it all probably ends after a few more episodes. I do wish they spent more filler on football stuff and the team on the field/in the locker room.

She never suggested that. She just wasn't going to act like making a private video was a mistake that she should apologize for. It's not like she posted the video herself.

It embarrassed Jack who was more concerned about her own image than what this did to Keeley (see the awkward encounter at the putt putt).

That's not what she said. She complained that women are oversexualized by society while at the same time also criticized by society for being overly sexual. The hypocrisy is what she was complaining about.

You're probably not wrong, but people have to remember that in the first season of a show, the audience doesn't care about the characters yet. It takes time to develop them to the point where people care about what happens to them. It makes sense that as a show progresses, it focuses more on the personal stories of those characters moreso than it did in the beginning. I wouldn't call that 'filler' really. It's the characters finding themselves as they go through their lives.
