Didn’t feel like a blockbuster Hollywood movie, it felt like a CW TV show series finale with a big budget.

Watched it. It was meh. Felt like your average mediocre marvel movie. Nothing amazing. Would never watch again.

I don’t know about that. I rewatched the last two seasons of superman and lois and hot damn that was a great embodiment of superman. And the lex luther they had on the show was intimidating. This movie was too “cute”.

I did a third viewing last night just to see if I could feel any better about it. I can't. It was much less resonant than Man of Steel and the original Superman. So many small "weird" aspects that just left me with an empty feeling about it.

Superman- overly emotional and easy to bait into an overblown reaction.
Can't even have a discussion with Lois without blowing a gasket and storming off. Not one moment like Christopher's Reeve's "Who are you?.. A friend"

Luthor- Weirdly smirking, crying, and lacked control of his emotions as well.15A! 15A! 24B! Not exactly the cold, calculating genius on display.

Baby Joey and the CGI River of WhoCares.

Ma and Pa HeeHaw who wear really bad wigs at the end.

Hawkgirl. An alien enforcer with wings that's just like any bitchy girl at the mall.

The more I see of it the more I worry for the future DCU.

It's like James Gunn is riffing on what came before and making it weird- not creating something new for modern audiences. But the soundtrack is weird and upbeat! Maybe I'm not the target audience but good movies are made for everyone.

Watched it yesterday. It's a great super-hero comic book movie. Funny, action, sci-fi type questions, hit some emotional beats. Great cast. If you need more from a super-hero movie, you've got bigger problems in your life.

I agree with you here.

Man of Steel hits me in the gut every time I see it

This is more fluffy and doesn’t truly inspire me

I liked it. Like an 8/10. Thought Lex was great. Superhero movies CGI all looks video game cut scenes now so I've thrown in the towel on worrying about that.

It definitely lacked any weight or gravitas.

It’s a super hero movie. It’s about a guy who flies around in his underwear. Not sure why we are expecting this to have any meaning beyond light entertainment.

Watched it last night.

Definitely not as good as Man of Steel. But maybe it didn’t have to be. It was a fun popcorn flick for a Saturday night.

Looks like Gunn is going for the light and colorful formula that worked for the MCU.

I finished this last night. I'm not sure what to think.

I like Superman campy but some of this was just plain silly.

“Good gosh!”

People just chilling in the park while a gigantic monster wreaks havoc. I get that monsters are relatively common in this world but good lord, get the frick out of its way. Same thing with the gigantic rift into another dimension/black hole is literally ripping a city apart, and people are just chilling on the dock watching it come straight for them. And then they're like "Honey, let's go!' "We don't have enough time. AAAHHH!" It was just weird.

Superman saving the squirrel and trying to figure out how to capture the monster alive? I know SM is overpowered, but can we see him just kicking some huge monster's arse sometimes?

Then Lex Luthor goes on tv and says some shite and shows the video of SM's parents, and people automatically believe him in about 20 seconds? All he has to say is “secret harem’ and that’s that? Just seems weird that nobody would stop and think maybe this message is fake and the dude who’s always been a good guy saving the planet may be getting fricked over. And do people even know those are really SM's parents anyway? His private life is pretty much unknown to everybody normally.

The Justice Gang was corny as hell. But weirdly, I dug Green Lantern. I think that's just because of how much I like Nathan Fillion.

"Oh, Superman, you care so much about people and are emotional..."
“Maybe that’s the real punk rock.”

This whole dog thing is really strange. It’s basically his whole focus. Is this Superman trying to be like John Wick?

David Corenswet has the look but is a pretty terrible actor.

The whole pocket universe thing was weird. It made sense though, I guess.

I agree with those saying that the SFX/CGI was pretty bad.

And the dog. I guess it was supposed to be comic relief or something. But it just was dumb for me. And Superman constantly needing to be saved by a dog fell flat for me.

Lex just came off like a toddler throwing a tantrum several times. I liked the initial idea of him studying SM and having counters to everything. But there were times when he stopped being the rich genius and turned into a petulant child.

This rip in the ground splits buildings and they just stay standing like Lego buildings? And then some are simply smashed back together. This is just nonsensical. At least they sort of addressed that in the post-credits scene.

Superman’s yelled speech at the end was cringey. And then Lex Luther starts crying? Wtf?

This Lois is pretty hot. Maybe the hottest Lois I’ve seen.

The cousin chick at the end (Supergirl I assume?) was just dumb. And Krypto isn't even SM's dog. WTF.

This movie was pretty dumb at times, and definitely all over the place. Weirdly enough, I didn’t hate it. But it also wasn’t very good. My son (5) has seen the first two OG Superman movies and wants to watch this one big time. But there isn't a whole lot of actual Superman type stuff in this out outside of him catching a building a couple of times and fighting his clone. I may have to go with Returns or Man of Steel before I show him this one.

If you could blend this movie and Man of Steel together, it would be perfect.

I thought this movie is a bit over hyped, but what I really enjoyed about this one was that Superman was legitimately caught in a few oh shite moments where you felt he was in true danger. The nano bots stuff was giving me anxiety felt like I was watching Uncut Gems during that scene which I don’t think any superhero movie has ever given me anxiety like that scene.

The Mr. Terrific rescue scene is a top 5 superhero fight scene I’ve seen. Extremely well done and he was only fighting a bunch of lackeys but the choreography, camera angles and music just elevates it completely to another level. Kudos whoever put that together.

The biggest issue with this movie is that it didn’t seem to know what kind of movie it really wanted to be. Just all over the place in tone and just overall felt very disjointed from one scene to another.

Superman actor wasn’t bad. Lex was great.

Overall a solid 6/10 but it did a couple of things great. Maybe it hits its stride in the second one.

You know that's not what he's saying. The guy comes in here to say that the movie is a bit overhyped and slightly above average and that's deemed as too much praise to you?

Man of Steel

Man of Steel loses the plot the moment we're given a Pa Kent who advocates for kid's dying and lets himself die in a tornado rather than Clark even risk being discovered.

Always weird to me how many people complain about the changes made to Superman's Kryptonian parents in Superman 2025 but seem perfectly okay with the changes made to Pa Kent in Man of Steel.
