Suggest an under the radar Sci-fi movie

I’ll trade each of you a suggestion. I saw “Frequency” (2000) recently with Dennis Quaid and Jim Caviezel and really enjoyed it. Surprised I had never seen it before. It kind of reminded me of The Butterfly Effect even though it was made after Frequency.

The Wandering Earth (2019), based on the story by Liu Cixin author of The Three Body Problem, first book of The Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy. Interesting concept. Chinese and seems like it was a much bigger deal on the other side of the world. I caught it on Netflix about 6 months ago. It may still be on there. Also, if you haven't heard of The Three Body problem that is definitely worth checking out. That's only a novel at this point. I think they tried to make a movie, but they had problems with quality.

Frequency is great.
I'll give you two.
Videodrome. Maybe not under the radar, but pretty prescient. Super weird though. Proceed at your own risk.
Coherence. Modern indie Science Fiction. As good as The Invitation is you like horror films, but obviously a little different.
Ok three.
Primer. Seems to be a little forgotten at this point. Well worth the watch.
I'd argue his follow up - Upstream Color - is even better. Also sci-fi but a little looser and lighter in approach, in the end it might be more interesting though.
Four.

Second this.
‘The Vast of Night’ was also good, it’s on prime.

How under the radar do you want?
Serenity, of course, is the movie sequel to Firefly.
How about an Indy film... Safety not guaranteed ?
If ya have Amazon Prime, try The Vast of Night.
Or Sky Captain, and the world of tomorrow.

First one I thought of. Great film and it shocks me it didn't get more recognition.

Yep, 100%. Sunshine first to come to mind.
It may night hold as well as I remember, but Pandorum with Dennis Quaid and I think Ben Foster was a good flick back in the day

Loved Frequency. The skipping record scene used to creep me the heck out.

I believe you can stream both Time Lapse (2014) and The Infinite Man (2014) on Tubi TV for free.
Time Lapse premise is three flatmates who discover a stationary camera that takes photos 24 hours into the future positioned directly across from their living room window.
The Infinite Man is a film in which a neurotic scientist obsessed with controlling variables travels back in time to try to fix a bad date that set his relationship off course.

Primer is great. Very much agree any sci fi fan should watch that.

Frequency is a great father/son movie.
Timecrimes is fantastic.
And an underrated gem from the 90's (and the movie has a nice 90's feel to it) - The Arrival
But my favorite under the radar that for some reason has gotten totally overlooked or forgotten is The Thirteenth Floor. Before the Matrix, Inception, etc. there was The Thirteenth Floor.

Moon. Great movie by David Bowie's son. Should have done more than 9.8M.
