From telling Tom she's too good for him ON THEIR WEDDING NIGHT to reluctantly half arse holding his hand as he becomes CEO of her dad's company.

I loved the scene where the kids completely ignore Peter’s presentation. It was great how he is given 2 minutes of screen time yet we have no idea what he is talking about. It shows just how irrelevant he is in the lives of the kids.
As for Shiv, she will have 2 billion dollars or whatever the amount is. But let’s be serious, Mattson is impulsive and Tom will eventually be fired. She has no way to work her way back into the company.
With Kendall, there was always the possibility of working her way back in because he has a weakness for his siblings, and deep down, he has some similar political views while Mattson seems disinterested in American politics.
(I realize that some will say she has no actual interest in politics, either).
Also, one of the more surprising things to come out in the finale is that Greg is only making 200K a year. That is such a meager amount for a guy running (or trying to run) in the circles he is in.

Shiv’s actions to me were driven by genuine concerns about Ken running the company. It’s not that out of character as all of them have shown flashes of decency though out the show.
Almost all the main characters are victims of their circumstances. 999/1000 would be the same, insufferable assholes in that situation - unlimited resources, zero moral compass and no family or friends to lean on.
Tom winning is a nod to the grit and resilience it takes to succeed in corporate America. Badass, “take them out at the knees”, politics doesn’t actually work long term. The basis of Tom’s success was the great work he did and the pain and paranoia he endured to keep it all together despite the great work. It’s all very poetic

well said
the show was about Logan Roy’s Succession.
Logan destroyed that process and every direct familial candidate he had during his reign.
The actual succession was a Swedish autist buying his weakened empire and a corporate lackey becoming its King.
Shiv chose Queen of whatever happens over sister of the King who has no clothes.
HBO should pick it up with another show called Integration
I would love to see where this all goes, there are some really big icebergs in front of the Waystar/GOJO Titanic

This fictional process would be a BCG/McKinsey’s wet dream

Early in the episode, Shiv asks Tom if he wanted to start over and have a real relationship. He said he didn’t know because he wasn’t sure he could trust her. Later, he tells her to ok the sale because he’d be the new US CEO.she blows up at first, but realizes that choosing Tom over her brothers is her last ditch, Hail Mary to show Tom that he can trust her and she’s committed to him, especially after several seasons of her throwing him under the bus.

Actually shocked Greg survived. Once he warned Kendall I thought the kids won then I noticed how much time was left and knew they wouldn't lol

Good point. I think Shiv wanted to screw Kendall but also wanted to show her loyalty to Tom. I think now that she’s pregnant, she’s longing for an actual relationship with love that she’s never had before. But it’ll be a lifetime of resentment for her as evidenced by her not wanting to hold his hand at the end. I don’t think her ego will ever allow her to truly be happy for him even though it was ultimately her decision

greg is useful to tom and Tom knows greg is out of options because matsson hates him
Kings, Presidents, CEOs need loyalists and greg is now a captive loyalist for Tom

Yeah, but he gets a ton of fire arse free vacations. Plus he might still be living rent-free in Ken's condo, which is probably worth north of $5m.
I think Tom is going to put Greg through even more shite. Greg was recently being used to fire people (even though he said he didn't like it), and Tom is going to use him to absorb some of the "pain sponge" duties that Mattson was talking about. Greg may end up being needed for some human footstooling as well (his height makes him an excellent candidate).

He did and the underlying struggle Logan had throughout the show was dealing with his own failure in growing a real successor from his own bloodline. He kept offering it to all of them in the hope that one of them would step up

The clear benefit is that her stock etc will still be worth something
None of the kids have ever been motivated by money nor have they needed to be. It’s always been about power and status for them. Now shiv doesn’t give a shite about power or status because she wants to make sure she’s still rich in the future even though it’s virtually impossible for her not to be?
quote:
her child will be in a solid position in waystar royco.
The child that she cares so little about that she chugged a glass of champagne in front of its father just to piss him off, and has not mentioned as a motivating factor for any decisions up to this point?

Kendall will sink the company. So having someone serious run it is to her benefit
Kendall laid out exactly why he was the only option of the 3 siblings. Having him run it keeps it in the family and still allows her to have significant influence and a major role. These are things she has always prioritized and acted in favor of. Having someone else run it makes her completely irrelevant.

That and he really doesn’t have a role other than to do what Tom asks. Dude has virtually no real skills nor work experience. It’s actually fairly realistic what he was paid

I watched and thought it was ok. Was a little disappointed. I believe the point of the ending was one of the kids was never going to get it because the other two would sabotage. They were competing all their lives and would never be able to let the other sibling win. It was not an altruistic decision shiv made for the company or her own future. She had been programmed to screw siblings over at any opportunity and could not overcome her programming. They were made that way by father so none of them could really be a threat by working together. Narcistic parents do this alot that arent wealthy. Pretty common.

He cares about money. He said exactly that. He likes money and he likes nice things. He did what it took do get money. Knocked up a Roy and became CEO of their company. Tom won

Fair enough. The social climbing was just a means to achieve those things. Or maybe a byproduct. My point is that he "wins" because his bar is so much lower than the siblings. Those 3 want to be worthy successors to their father. Tom just doesn't want to be some hick from Wisconsin.
His version of winning would have been a loss for the siblings.

Shiv spent the entire season fake sipping booze. She was being dramatic and up in his face but her lips were pursed tight and her mouth wasn't open, and there wasn't any less champagne in the glass when she was done than there was before she started.

Well they shot it in Barbados anyway.

What an amazing show. Ken deserved an award
I wanted him to win in the end. So will Shiv take a job under Greg?
We need a movie
