Somewhat yes. But they repeatedly talked about how bad it was for america as well. The actress who played shiv even talked about how this was her altruistic side and even though it was convenient for her to support Jiminez she was still supporting who was good for democracy.
I just can’t remember what Mencken said that made him seem like a supposed fascist.
Was that an overwhelming talking point or was it all coming from Shiv alone?

I think it goes back to some of the things that were said when Logan was fleshing out the candidates for the Republican ticket (last season I think, they kind of roll into one another). Menken said something to the effect of he liked Franco and Hitler as “pitch guys”. I think there was more than that but I’d have to go back and rewatch. Shiv supported someone who was more moderate (this is when Logan was considering her if she trained within the company) but he was too independent for Logan’s liking.
Logan appeared to like Menken, not for his individual politics, but because he was easy to keep in his pocket and control.

Kendall and his wife were saying it too but not as hysterically as Shiv
Also, Willa has said how "evil" he is in the past two episodes

Thank You.
Yeah I remember Shiv’s guy. I’d expect her to dislike Mencken (and that weasel Nate) but it just seems like there was this jump somewhere to where he’s viewed as this terrible human more widely. I just thought he was a bit more bombastic and conservative.
I may also just be reading too many recaps and it’s going to be included in the reviewers worldview since he’s the more conservative candidate.

I am finished hijacking the thread. Apologies to everyone else.
It's like our own little Succession- if they had knives and were vying for king of the trailer park.

In the republican primary episode last season, he said that he wasn't a fan of using open borders to completely change the demographics of the country so quickly. I think that was supposed to be considered evil/far right.

So next episode is the funeral with a probable bombshell at the end and then the finale. Going to be interesting to see how this plays

Hopefully Logan rises from the dead and in a zombie state he eats Shiv's face saving us from having to listen to her any longer

No, it's just that no one has ever told you how insufferable you have become. I am. Now go put on your therapy hat and think of how to overcome that.
Wow! I didn't see a single thing like that. In fact, she's extremely correct about the kids generally only caring about who gets them the most power and flipping the deal their way. This is an opinion board. Attack the opinion, not the person. Apparently you'd be better off living in an echo chamber!

No. He’s an extremist monster who happens to be Republican. There’s a difference.

I felt it mostly from Shiv. Ken feels like the type to agree because he thinks it's sort of the in thing...like the crowd thinks Mencken is awful, so Ken will as well, when he really doesn't give a damn.
Roman never sounds to me like he really cares about anything at all except his own power and his lack of support from Logan. I don't feel Roman has any moral compass or beliefs at all. Just the need to prove that he's good enough, better than Ken.

Roman was a boss this episode. Didn’t hesitate at all and had a plan and stuck with it.

Roman is losing it and slowly becoming unhinged. He does not handle power well.

I think he was freaking out a bit because you could see Shiv winning Kendall over a bit (until her whole world blew up in her face) and he needs that ace of Menken in his pocket in order to fully take over the company. That’s going to be his play to the board. Menken won’t work with Ken, but he will with Roman.
Without it, he doesn’t have anything that really put himself ahead of Kendall for a solo CEO spot.
Now I agree he doesn’t handle power well. He lets it get too personal. Look at his blow up on Mattson. Was it something that we all wanted to be said? Sure. But it wasn’t very business savvy if he was trying to tank the deal.

I was hoping for more fireworks from her brothers when they found out she was trying to screw them. I feel like the writers didn't do enough to make that as explosive as it should be.
This x 1000....
This was a huge betrayal on the business side but also on the personal/family side. Could you imagine finding out your sister has been spoon feeding your rival the personal conversations and strategy you've shared with her? This is a massive betrayal and I too didn't feel the writers gave it the attention and fallout that it would certainly have in the real world.

Felt like the succession story took a bit of a backseat so the writers could get in their "Trump" episode. It will suck if they stay hung up on this issue much longer.

To be fair we just got the immediate reaction and it was in the middle of an integral business moment for them (really no time for shock and awe in the moment). The look on Kendall's face though, I haven't seen him shoot daggers like that in awhile. Roman threatened to have her physically removed from the room. That's probably the appropriate amount of emotion in the moment considering what they were discussing.
And lets be frank, the siblings regularly stab each other in the back. I think they were surprised but were they really that shocked she did that?
I think we see more of that fallout in the next episode, once they're past the adrenaline of election night and have had time to really process the betrayal.
